The memory device of claim 1 , wherein the instant-messaging application includes a web application. 3. The memory device of claim 1 , wherein the first instant message is a received message. 4. The memory device of claim 3 , wherein the second instant message is a sent message. 5. The memory device of claim 3 , wherein the second instant message is a received message. 6. The memory device of claim 1 , wherein the first instant message is a sent message. 7. The memory device of claim 6 , wherein the second instant message is a received message. 8. The memory device of claim 6 , wherein the second instant message is a sent message. 9. A method of presenting a taskbar button on a taskbar of an operating system, the method comprising: creating a rich presentation taskbar button that represents an instant-messaging application; displaying the rich presentation taskbar button on the taskbar of the operating system; receiving from the instant-messaging application a first dynamic instant-message text item; displaying the first dynamic instant-message text item in the rich presentation taskbar button, which is displayed on the taskbar; and updating the displaying of the first dynamic instant-message text item in the rich presentation taskbar button to include a second dynamic instant-message text item, which is presented in the rich presentation taskbar button displayed on the taskbar. 10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the first and second dynamic instant-message text items each include a contact name from a contact list. 11.
