A nonaqueous electrolyte composition includes an electrolyte salt, a nonaqueous solvent, a matrix polymer, and a ceramic powder, wherein the ceramic powder has an average particle size of 0.1 to 2.5 μm and a BET specific surface area of 0.5 to 11 m 2 /g.

The invention claimed is: 1. A nonaqueous gel electrolyte composition for a battery, the nonaqueous gel electrolyte composition comprising: an electrolyte salt; a nonaqueous solvent; a matrix polymer selected from the group consisting of: polyvinyl formal, polyacrylic ester, polyvinylidene fluoride, and a copolymer of polyvinylidene fluoride and at least one of hexafluoropropylene, chlorotrifluoroethylene and polytetrafluoroethylene; a ceramic powder; and a carbonic acid ester having a multiple bond, wherein a content of the carbonic acid ester is 0.05 to 5% by mass of the nonaqueous gel electrolyte composition, wherein a content ratio of the ceramic powder to the matrix polymer ranges from 1/1 to 5/1 by mass, wherein the ceramic powder has an average particle size of 0.1 to 2.5 μm and a BET specific surface area of 0.5 to 11 m 2 /g, wherein a content of the nonaqueous solvent in the nonaqueous gel electrolyte composition ranges from 70% by mass to 90% by mass of the nonaqueous gel electrolyte composition, and wherein the ceramic powder is at least one selected from the group consisting of aluminum oxide (Al 2 O 3 ), zirconium oxide (ZrO 2 ), titanium oxide (TiO 2 ), and magnesium oxide (MgO). 2. The nonaqueous gel electrolyte composition according to claim 1 , wherein the electrolyte salt is a lithium salt, and a concentration of the lithium salt in a solution used to form the nonaqueous gel electrolyte composition is 0.6 to 2.0 mol/kg. 3. The nonaqueous gel electrolyte composition according to claim 1 , wherein the matrix polymer contains polyvinylidene fluoride and has a weight-average molecular weight of 550,000 to 600,000. 4. The nonaqueous gel electrolyte composition according to claim 1 , wherein the matrix polymer is at least one selected from the group consisting of: polyvinyl formal, polyacrylic ester and polyvinylidene fluoride. 5. The nonaqueous gel electrolyte composition according to claim 1 , wherein the nonaqueous solvent comprises at least one of ethylene carbonate and propylene carbonate. 6. The nonaqueous gel electrolyte composition according to claim 1 , wherein the ceramic powder has a Gaussian particle size distribution. 7. The nonaqueous gel electrolyte composition according to claim 1 , further comprising zeolite. 8. A nonaqueous gel electrolyte secondary battery comprising: a cathode; an anode; a separator configured to avoid a contact between the cathode and the anode; and a nonaqueous gel electrolyte configured to mediate an electrode reaction between the cathode and the anode, wherein: the nonaqueous gel electrolyte contains: an electrolyte salt; a nonaqueous solvent; a matrix polymer; a ceramic powder; and a carbonic acid ester having a multiple bond, a content of the carbonic acid ester is 0.05 to 5% by mass of the nonaqueous gel electrolyte composition, a content ratio of the ceramic powder to the matrix polymer ranges from 1/1 to 5/1 by mass, the ceramic powder has an average particle size of 0.1 to 2.5 μm and a BET specific surface area of 0.5 to 11 m 2 /g, and the ceramic powder is at least one selected from the group consisting of aluminum oxide (Al 2 O 3 ), zirconium oxide (ZrO 2 ), titanium oxide (TiO 2 ), and magnesium oxide (MgO). 9. The nonaqueous gel electrolyte secondary battery according to claim 8 , wherein the cathode includes a cathode collector and a cathode active material layer that is stacked on the cathode collector and contains a cathode active material, the anode includes an anode collector and an anode active material layer that is stacked on the anode collector and contains an anode active material, the nonaqueous gel electrolyte encloses at least one of the cathode and the anode such that it protrudes 0.1 mm to 2 mm from a side edge of at least one of the cathode active material layer and the anode active material layer. 10. The nonaqueous gel electrolyte secondary battery according to claim 8 , wherein the cathode includes a belt-shaped cathode collector and a cathode active material layer that is stacked on the cathode collector and contains a cathode active material, the anode includes a belt-shaped anode collector and an anode active material layer that is stacked on the anode collector and contains an anode active material, the nonaqueous gel electrolyte encloses at least one of the cathode and the anode such that it protrudes 0.1 mm to 5 mm from an end of at least one of the cathode active material layer and the anode active material layer. 11. The nonaqueous gel electrolyte secondary battery according to claim 8 , wherein an amount of the ceramic powder per unit area between the cathode and the anode is 0.6 to 3.5 mg/cm 2 . 12. The nonaqueous gel electrolyte secondary battery according to claim 8 , wherein the nonaqueous solvent comprises at least one of ethylene carbonate and propylene carbonate. 13. The nonaqueous gel electrolyte secondary battery according to claim 8 , wherein the nonaqueous gel electrolyte is in contact with the separator. 14. The nonaqueous gel electrolyte secondary battery according to claim 8 , wherein the ceramic powder has a Gaussian particle size distribution. 15. The nonaqueous gel electrolyte secondary battery according to claim 8 , wherein the nonaqueous gel electrolyte further comprises zeolite.
