Official abstract text for this publication.
A method and system are disclosed for acquiring and transforming existing content (e.g., Hyper Text Markup Language HTML content) for display and execution on multiple platforms and architectures. In one embodiment, capture templates are created to harvest content from disparate content sources on multiple platforms. Data is extracted from the content from the disparate content sources using the created capture templates that drives extracting process. A standardized data stream is generated from the extracted data. The standardized data stream is provided for display on one or more different type of platforms.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method, comprising: creating, by at least one computing device, a platform-neutral template based on input from a user with respect to a web page displayed to the user; generating, by the at least one computing device, platform-neutral content by extracting data from content of a web page by using the platform-neutral template; combining, by the at least one computing device, the platform-neutral content with video content, resulting in combined content; and presenting the combined content for display, wherein the presenting comprises dynamically loading the platform-neutral content in a cache, generating the combined content in the cache, and sending the combined content from the cache to a display device. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the using comprises parsing a first hypertext markup language (HTML) document of the web page. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the platform-neutral content comprises an extensible markup language (XML) document. 4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the presenting comprises converting the XML document into a second HTML document. 5. The method of claim 1 . further comprising displaying the combined content by the display device. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the dynamically loading is performed as a batch run according to a predetermined schedule. 7. A method, comprising: receiving first content in a first format from an Internet web page; parsing the first content to generate second content in a second format; combining, by at least one computing device, the second content with video content to generate combined content; and presenting the combined content for display on a first platform based on localization rules associated with the first platform, and presenting the combined content for display on a second platform using localization rules associated with the second platform, wherein the localization rules associated with the first platform are dependent on a geographic location of the first platform and the localization rules associated with the second platform are dependent on a geographic location of the second platform. 8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the first content comprises a first hypertext markup language (HTML) document and the second content comprises an extensible markup language (XML) document. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the combined content comprises a second HTML document. 10. The method of claim 7 , further comprising sending the combined content to a display device of the first platform and to a display device of the second platform. 11. The method of claim 7 , wherein the first content comprises a hypertext markup language (HTML) document and wherein the parsing comprises determining one or more HTML tags of the HTML document, the method further comprising removing at least one of the one or more HTML tags to generate the second content. 12. The method of claim 7 , wherein the second content is platform-neutral content.
