A cable reel that has first and second opposing flanges. The first flange has a first hub portion and the second flange has a second hub portion. The first and second hub portions are axial aligned and configured to mate with one another to support cable. The first hub portion includes an elongated wall extends from the first flange. The elongated wall is sized to support cable. The elongated wall defines an inner area that is configured to accept the second hub portion. The elongated wall includes a plurality of flexible segments. The second hub portion includes a truncated wall that is receivable in the inner area of the first hub portion. The truncated wall includes a tapered outer surface for engaging and expanding the plurality of flexible segments.

What is claimed is: 1. A cable reel, comprising: first and second opposing flanges, said first flange having a first hub portion and said second flange having a second hub portion, said first and second hub portions being axially aligned and configured to mate with one another to support cable, said first hub portion including an elongated wall extending from said first flange, said elongated wall being sized to support cable, said elongated wall defining an inner area configured to accept said second hub portion, said elongated wall including a plurality of flexible segments, and said second hub portion including a truncated wall receivable in said inner area of said first hub portion, said truncated wall including a tapered outer surface for engaging and expanding said plurality of flexible segments. 2. A cable reel according to claim 1 , wherein said first hub portion is longer than said second hub portion. 3. A cable reel according to claim 1 , further comprising first and second support frames rotatably coupled to said first and second hubs, respectively. 4. A cable reel according to claim 1 , wherein said first and second hub portions are mated to one another by a friction fit. 5. A cable reel according to claim 4 , further comprising a secondary engagement member that couples said first and second hub portions. 6. A cable reel according to claim 5 , wherein said secondary engagement member includes at least one snap arm that extends from said first flange to snap engage said second flange. 7. A cable reel according to claim 6 , wherein said at least one snap arm is located inside of said first hub portion extending beyond said elongated wall. 8. A cable reel according to claim 5 , wherein said secondary engagement member includes a plurality of snap arms that extend from said first flange. 9. A cable reel according to claim 1 , wherein said first hub portion includes a recessed groove at a base of said elongated wall. 10. A cable reel according to claim 1 , wherein each of said first and second flanges is substantially disc shaped.
