Methods and devices for using a backend system to allow access to a residence are provided herein. In some embodiments, a call box located at a residence may call a telephone number associated with a user account on the backend system that corresponds to a resident of the residence. When the call box calls the telephone number associated with the user account, an audio message may be provided that includes a question whose answer is a user selected passphrase. A response to the question is then analyzed to determine whether or not the response includes the passphrase. If so, a signal, such as an audible tone, is provided to the call box. The audible tone, when played, may cause a door of the residence to become unlocked.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for providing access to a residence, the method comprising: receiving, by an electronic device, a telephone call, the electronic device being associated with a first housing unit of the residence; determining a telephone number from which the telephone call is received; determining that the telephone number corresponds to a call box for the residence; answering the telephone call from the call box; determining an access word that allows access to the first housing unit; determining an access question to ask such that a correct answer to the access question is the access word; generating an audio message that includes the access question; sending the audio message to the call box from the electronic device during the telephone call such that the audio message is played by a speaker of the call box; receiving, at the electronic device, an additional audio message representing an answer to the access question received by a microphone of the call box; determining, using keyword spotting technology, a likelihood score that the answer is the access word; determining that the likelihood score is greater than a threshold value indicating that the access word is declared as being spoken within the additional audio message; determining a button on a touch-tone telephone keypad for unlocking a door of the residence; determining a dual-tone sound associated with the button, wherein determining the dual-tone sound comprises: determining a sinusoidal low frequency tone; and determining a sinusoidal high frequency tone; generating an audio signal representing the dual-tone sound that, when played by a speaker of the call box, causes the door to unlock, wherein generating the audio signal comprises combining the sinusoidal low frequency tone and the sinusoidal high frequency tone such that the play simultaneously; and sending the audio signal to the call box to unlock the door, thereby providing access to the residence. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein: determining the access question comprises: receiving a selection of a type of event that is to occur at the residence; determining that the selection of the type of event is for a party occurring at the first housing unit; and receiving, prior to the telephone call being received, text data representing the access word for providing access to the party; and generating the audio message comprises: generating additional text data representing the access question based on the access word; and generating, using text-to-speech functionality, speech representing the generated additional text data. 3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: receiving, prior to answering the telephone call, a selection of a start time for a party occurring at the residence; receiving another selection of an end time for the party; determining a time that the telephone call is received; determining that the time that the telephone call is received occurs after the start time; determining that the time that the telephone call is received is before the end time; and determining that the telephone call is for obtaining access to the party based on the time that the telephone call is received and that the telephone number corresponds to the call box. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein prior to determining the button, the method further comprises: performing speaker recognition techniques to the additional audio data to determine a voice used to speak the answer; accessing an invitation list for a party occurring at the residence; determining a guest's name that is listed on the invitation list; determining a guest telephone number associated with the guest's name; determining that the guest telephone number is associated with a user account; retrieving voice biometric data associated with the user account; determining that the voice corresponds to the voice biometric data; and allowing the answer that is declared to be spoken to be used for accessing the residence. 5. A method of providing access, comprising: receiving a communication from an access point; establishing a connection with the access point; determining sound data to allow access to a secured area; generating first audio data representing an audio message to be audibly outputted by an output component of the access point; sending the first audio data to the access point; receiving second audio data representing a response to the first audio data; determining that at least a portion of the response comprises the sound data; generating a command to allow access to the secured area; and sending the command to the access point. 6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising: receiving an identification number associated with the communication; and determining that the identification number corresponds to the access point. 7. The method of claim 5 , further comprising: determining a type of event that the sound data is to be used for to allow access to the secured area; receiving text data representing the sound data; determining a question to use for the sound data based, at least in part, on the type of event; and generating the audio message representing the question. 8. The method of claim 5 , further comprising: determining an event that the sound data is to be used for to allow access to the secured area; determining that the second audio data corresponds to a voice; determining that the voice is associated with a user account; and determining that the user account is authorized to access the secured area for the event. 9. The method of claim 5 , further comprising: determining a time that the communication is received; determining an event that is occurring at the secured area such that the sound data is to be used to allow access to the secured area for the event; determining a start time of the event; determining an end time of the event; and determining that the time the communication is received is: later than or equal to the start time; and earlier than or equal to the end time. 10. The method of claim 5 , further comprising: determining, using keyword spotting, a likelihood score that the response comprises the sound data; and determining that the likelihood score is greater than a threshold value for declaring that the response comprises the sound data. 11. The method of claim 5 , further comprising: generating an additional command; and sending the additional command to another access point of the secured area to further enable access to the secured area. 12. The method of claim 5 , further comprising: determining a button on a touch-tone keypad that produces an audible tone that allows access to the secured area by causing an entryway of the secured area to become unlocked; determining a first frequency for the audible tone; determining a second frequency for the audible tone; and generating a dual-tone multi-frequency (“DTMF”) signaling pitch comprising pure tone sinusoidal representations of the first frequency and the second frequency. 13. A device for providing access, comprising: communications circuitry that establishes a connection with an access point; memory that stores sound data to allow access to a secured area; at least one processor operable to: receive, using the communication circuitry, a communication from the access point; retrieve the sound data from the memory; generate first audio data representing an audio message to be audibly outputted by an output component of the access point; send the first audio data to the access point using the communications circuitry; receive, by the commun
