Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

4-(2,2-Difluoro-benzo[1,3]dioxol-5-ylmethyl)-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid (4-chloro-pyridin-3-yl)-amide is described, which is useful as a FAAH modulator. 4-(2,2-Difluoro-benzo[1,3]dioxol-5-ylmethyl)-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid (4-chloro-pyridin-3-yl)-amide may be used in pharmaceutical compositions and methods for the treatment of disease states, disorders, and conditions mediated by fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) activity, such as anxiety, pain, inflammation, sleep disorders, eating disorders, energy metabolism disorders, and movement disorders (e.g., multiple sclerosis). A method of synthesizing 4-(2,2-difluoro-benzo[1,3]dioxol-5-ylmethyl)-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid (4-chloro-pyridin-3-yl)-amide is also disclosed.

A method according to claim 1 , wherein the disorder is anxiety. 3. A method according to claim 1 , wherein the disorder is depression. 4. A method according to claim 1 , wherein the disorder is post-traumatic stress disorder. 5. A method of treating a patient suffering from a disorder selected from the group consisting of anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder comprising administering to said patient a pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of 4-(2,2-difluoro-benzo[1,3]dioxol-5-ylmethyl)-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid (4-chloro-pyridin-3-yl)-amide or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. 6. A method according to claim 5 , wherein the disorder is anxiety. 7. A method according to claim 5 , wherein the disorder is depression. 8. A method according to claim 5 , wherein the disorder is post-traumatic stress disorder. 9. A method according to claim 1 wherein the effective amount comprises 0.01 mg/kg per day to 35 mg/kg per day.
