A cover for use with an optic device to hold and display shooting information. The cover may have resilient retention members that allow a display to be releasably attached and detached from the cover. The display may be made from a single substrate or multiple substrates in order to make the shooting information contained thereon highly visible in a variety of conditions and shooting preferences.

What is claimed is: 1. A cover for an optical device comprising: a body capable of attaching the cover to the optical device; a cap connected to the body such that the cap can be opened or closed, the cap having an interior portion; a display with a perimeter having data on personal equipment for shooting applications, wherein the data is visible to a user of said optical device, wherein the display is formed by coupling a top layer to a bottom layer and wherein the top layer is a different color than the bottom layer; and at least one resilient retention member attached to the interior portion of the cap for retaining the display, the at least one resilient retention member capable of temporarily deforming to receive and release the display; and further wherein the display has at least one indent formed in the perimeter such that the display may be released from the at least one resilient retention member at least through the use of the at least one indent. 2. The cover for an optical device of claim 1 , wherein the display has at least two sides and said data of personal equipment is visible by at least one side of the at least two sides. 3. The cover for an optical device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one resilient retention member is a tab. 4. The cover for an optical device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one resilient retention member is a post. 5. The cover for an optical device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one resilient retention member is an annular ring. 6. The cover for an optical device of claim 1 , wherein the display further comprises a middle layer between the top layer and the bottom and wherein the top layer and bottom layer are a different color than the middle layer. 7. A sighting device with a cover having a display for shooting firearms comprising: a first substrate having a first color; a second substrate having a second color different than the first color and fixed to the first substrate to form the display; wherein the first substrate is engraved such that the second substrate is exposed through the engraved first substrate and conveys shooting information; and wherein the display is shaped such that the display may be firmly retained by the cover and has a perimeter formed such that the perimeter may be used to remove the display from the cover. 8. The display of claim 7 , further comprising a third substrate with a third color different than the second color, wherein the second substrate has a first side and a second side and the first substrate is fixed to the first side of the second substrate and the third substrate is fixed to the second side of the second substrate and wherein the third substrate is engraved such that the second substrate is exposed through the engraved third substrate. 9. The display of claim 8 , wherein the display is round in shape and the perimeter has indentations formed therein. 10. The display of claim 9 , wherein the first and second substrate are of a material such that the shape and the first and second colors remain substantially the same when exposed to moisture, ultraviolet light and temperatures in the range of −20° F. to 120° F.
