Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a method may include sliding a slider slidably coupled to the structural member and mechanically coupled to the structural member by an ejection spring with an ejection spring force configured to bias the slider in a first position relative to the structural member in absence of a force other than the rejection spring force, wherein the sliding is in a direction opposite the ejection spring force and away from the first position, and wherein the structural member defines at least a portion of a bay for receiving an information handling resource. The method may also include engaging the slider with a release latch mechanically coupled to the structural member, such that when engaged with the release latch, the slider is biased in a second position away from the first position.

What is claimed is: 1. A system, comprising: a structural member defining at least a portion of a bay for receiving an information handling resource; a release latch mechanically coupled to the structural member; and a slider slidably coupled to the structural member, the slider configured to, when the information handling resource is inserted into the bay: slide relative to the structural member; engage with the release latch, such that when engaged with the release latch, the slider is biased in a first position; wherein the slider is biased in a second position away from the first position when the slider is disengaged with the release latch. 2. The system of claim 1 , the slider comprising a slider flange configured to engage with the information handling resource and the slider configured to slide relative to the structural member and away from the first position responsive to the information handling resource engaging with and applying a mechanical force to the slider flange. 3. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a retention spring coupled to the slider and configured to: remain fixed relative to the slider in the direction opposite the ejection spring force as the slider slides relative to the structural member; and mechanically engage with the information handling resource responsive to translation of the slider between the second position to the first position, such that the information handling resource remains fixed relative to the slider while the retention spring is engaged with the information handling resource. 4. The system of claim 3 , the retention spring further configured to mechanically disengage from the information handling resource responsive to translation of the slider from the first position to the second position. 5. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a latch return spring mechanically coupling the release latch to the structural member, the latch return spring with a latch return spring force configured to bias the slider in a third position relative to the structural member in absence of a force other than the latch return spring force. 6. The system of claim 5 , wherein: the release latch comprises a projection; and the slider comprises a slider post configured to mechanically interact with the projection such that: during translation from the second position to the first position, the slider post causes the release latch to slide to a fourth position in a direction opposite of the third position; and further during translation from the second position to the first position, the latch return spring causes the release latch to slide to the third position such that the projection engages the slider post and the slider is fixed relative to the release latch while the slider post is engaged to the projection. 7. The system of claim 6 , wherein responsive to a force applied to the release latch, the release latch slides to the fourth position, causing the slider to slide from the first position to the second position. 8. The system of claim 1 , wherein: the structural member comprises one or more bearings; and the slider comprises one or more openings each corresponding to a respective one of the one or more bearings, the slider mechanically coupled to the structural member via the one or more bearings and the one or more openings. 9. The system of claim 1 , wherein: the structural member comprises one or more bearings; and the release latch comprises one or more openings each corresponding to a respective one of the one or more bearings, the release latch mechanically coupled to the structural member via the one or more bearings and the one or more openings. 10. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a second structural member defining at least another portion of the bay, the structural member opposite from the structural member and comprising one or more vibrational dampers configured to engage with the information handling resource. 11. An information handling system, comprising: a chassis; a drawer mechanically coupled to the chassis having a plurality of bays, each bay configured to receive an information handling resource and each bay comprising: a structural member defining at least a portion of the bay; a release latch mechanically coupled to the structural member; and a slider slidably coupled to the structural member, the slider configured to, when the information handling resource is inserted into the bay: slide relative to the structural member; engage with the release latch, such that when engaged with the release latch, the slider is biased in a first position; wherein the slider is biased in a second position away from the first position when the slider is disengaged with the release latch. 12. The information handling system of claim 11 , the slider comprising a slider flange configured to engage with the information handling resource and the slider configured to slide relative to the structural member and away from the first position responsive to the information handling resource engaging with and applying a mechanical force to the slider flange. 13. The information handling system of claim 11 , further comprising a retention spring coupled to the slider and configured to: remain fixed relative to the slider as the slider slides relative to the structural member; and mechanically engage with the information handling resource responsive to translation of the slider between the second position to the first position, such that the information handling resource remains fixed relative to the slider while the retention spring is engaged with the information handling resource. 14. The information handling system of claim 13 , the retention spring further configured to mechanically disengage from the information handling resource responsive to translation of the slider from the first position to the second position. 15. The information handling system of claim 11 , further comprising a latch return spring mechanically coupling the release latch to the structural member, the latch return spring with a latch return spring force configured to bias the slider in a third position relative to the structural member in absence of a force other than the latch return spring force. 16. The information handling system of claim 15 , wherein: the release latch comprises a projection; and the slider comprises a slider post configured to mechanically interact with the projection such that: during translation from the second position to the first position, the slider post causes the release latch to slide to a fourth position in a direction opposite of the third position; and further during translation from the second position to the first position, the latch return spring causes the release latch to slide to the third position such that the projection engages the slider post and the slider is fixed relative to the release latch while the slider post is engaged to the projection. 17. The information handling system of claim 16 , wherein responsive to a force applied to the release latch, the release latch slides to the fourth position, causing the slider to slide from the first position to the second position. 18. The information handling system of claim 11 , wherein: the structural member comprises one or more bearings; and the slider comprises one or more openings each corresponding to a respective one of the one or more bearings, the slider mechanically coupled to the structural member via the one or more bearings and the one or more openings. 19.
