We claim: 1. A method for treating a disease or disorder that is associated with elevated SOD1 expression or activity in a patient in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the patient an effective amount of the following compound for reducing SOD1 expression or activity: 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the disease or disorder is a neurological disease or disorder. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the neurological disease or disorder is a degenerative neurological disease or disorder. 4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the degenerative neurological disease or disorder is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). 5. A method for treating a disease or disorder that is associated with elevated SOD1 expression or activity in a patient in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the patient an effective amount of the following compound for reducing SOD1 expression or activity: 6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the disease or disorder is a neurological disease or disorder. 7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the neurological disease or disorder is a degenerative neurological disease or disorder. 8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the degenerative neurological disease or disorder is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
