I claim: 1. A drainable ostomy pouch comprising: a collection portion; a drain chute portion depending from the collection portion and having a discharge opening for permitting emptying of contents from the pouch, the drain chute portion being foldable between an open condition in which the drain chute portion is extended from the collection portion, and a closed condition in which the drain chute portion is folded towards the collection portion; and a flap disposed on a first face of the pouch, the flap comprising a proximal end attached to the pouch, side edges, and a free distal end extending towards the discharge opening; the flap being dimensioned such that (i) when the drain chute portion is in its closed condition, at least a portion of the flap is foldable under the drain chute portion to confront a second face of the pouch opposite the first face, and (ii) the side edges of the flap have a shape that generally follows the same profile shape as the side edges of the pouch in a confronting region when the flap is folded under the drain chute portion, wherein the side edges of the flap include a flared portion, the flared portion extending outwardly towards the distal end beyond the drain chute portion in its closed condition and generally matching a tapered shape of a portion of the pouch when the flap is folded under the drain portion to confront said portion of the pouch. 2. The drainable ostomy pouch of claim 1 , wherein said tapered portion of the pouch is provided where the drain chute portion meets the collection portion, the drain chute portion being narrower than the collection portion. 3. The drainable ostomy pouch of claim 1 , further comprising a pouch flap fastener for releasably fastening the flap in its folded condition. 4. The drainable ostomy pouch of claim 3 , wherein the pouch flap fastener comprises a first fastener part on the flap, and a second fastener part on said confronting region of the pouch. 5. The drainable ostomy pouch of claim 4 , further comprising a drain chute fastener for releasably fastening the drain chute portion in its closed condition, wherein the drain chute fastener is located in a distal region of the pouch, and wherein, the drain chute portion comprises a pouch flap fastener part integral with the drain chute fastener. 6. The drainable ostomy pouch of claim 1 , further comprising at least one reinforcing member near or at a discharge opening of the drain chute portion for controlling a shape of the discharge opening. 7. The drainable ostomy pouch of claim 1 , wherein the flap comprises a comfort layer. 8. The drainable ostomy pouch of claim 1 , wherein the side edges define a trapezoid shape at a region comprising the flared portion. 9. A drainable ostomy pouch comprising: a collection portion; a drain chute portion depending from the collection portion and having a discharge opening for permitting emptying of contents from the pouch, the drain chute portion being foldable between an open condition in which the drain chute portion is extended from the collection portion, and a closed condition in which the drain chute portion is folded towards the collection portion; wherein the drain chute portion comprises a distributed peelable mechanical engagement fastener part mounted on a wall that is welded within a peripheral seam of the pouch, the distributed mechanical engagement fastener being coextensive with first and second edges of said wall which edges form part of, or extend to, opposite peripheral edge portions of said pouch, and said fastener part extending as a continuous piece between said first and second edges; and at least one reinforcing member on the drain chute portion, wherein the at least one reinforcing member is spaced from the discharge opening by a distance that is at least 0.5 cm; and a flap disposed on a first face of the pouch, the flap comprising a proximal end attached to the pouch, side edges, and a free distal end extending towards the discharge opening; the flap being dimensioned such that (i) when the drain chute portion is in its closed condition, at least a portion of the flap is foldable under the drain chute portion to confront a second face of the pouch opposite the first face, and (ii) the side edges of the flap have a shape that generally follows the same profile shape as the side edges of the pouch in a confronting region when the flap is folded under the drain chute portion, wherein the side edges of the flap include a flared portion, the flared portion extending outwardly towards the distal end beyond the drain chute portion in its closed condition and generally matching a tapered shape of a portion of the pouch when the flap is folded under the drain portion to confront said portion of the pouch. 10. The drainable ostomy pouch of claim 9 , wherein the distributed mechanical engagement fastener part extends as a continuous piece between said opposite edge portions of the pouch, and ends of the fastener part have the same shape as a profile of said opposite edge portions of the pouch. 11. The drainable ostomy pouch of claim 9 , wherein the fastener part is selected from the group consisting of: (i) a fastener part for fastening the drain chute portion in the closed condition; (ii) a fastener part for fastening a flap associated with the drain chute portion; and (iii) a fastener part including a first region for fastening the drain chute portion in the closed condition and a second region for fastening a flap associated with the drain chute portion. 12. The drainable ostomy pouch of claim 9 , wherein said wall is a comfort layer of a face of the pouch. 13. The drainable ostomy pouch of claim 9 , wherein said wall is cut from roll stock to which said fastener part is pre-attached in continuous form. 14. The drainable ostomy pouch of claim 9 , wherein the at least one reinforcing member is spaced from the discharge opening by a distance that is at least 1.5 cm.
