Embodiments of work stations for use in medical dose preparation management system. A work station may include a camera stand. The camera stand may include a housing enclosing a camera and one or more light sources therein. As such, the camera and light sources may be directed at a medical dose preparation staging region to capture medical dose preparation images of the medical dose preparation staging region. The camera stand may include an adjustable support positionable in a plurality of positions to dispose the camera and light source relative to the medical dose preparation staging region. A base with a removable tray may be provided that include medical receptacle engagement features. The work stations may facilitate improved image quality, efficiency of work flows carried out at the work station, and administrative tasks such as cleaning.

What is claimed is: 1. A work station for use in a system for medical dose preparation management, the work station comprising: a base having a support platform to support at least one medication receptacle within a medication preparation staging region, and a scale operable to output weight data corresponding to at least one medication receptacle supported on the support platform within the medication preparation staging region; an imaging device having an imaging field encompassing at least a portion of the medication preparation staging region, wherein the imaging device is operable to output image data of at least one medication receptacle supported on the support platform within the medication preparation staging region; a processor in operative communication with the scale to receive the weight data, and in operative communication with the imaging device to receive the image data; and, a memory in operative communication with the processor, wherein a weight and a medical dose preparation image of at least one medication receptacle supported on the support platform within the medication preparation staging region are associatively stored in the memory. 2. A work station according to claim 1 , wherein the support platform is removably disposed relative to the base. 3. A work station according to claim 1 , wherein the imaging device is operable to capture at least one of still digital images and a video data stream. 4. A work station according to claim 1 , further comprising: a user control device in operative communication with the processor to initiate capture of the medical dose preparation image in response to a user input received at the user control device. 5. A work station according to claim 4 , wherein upon receipt of the user input the processor is operable to record the weight at substantially the same time as the capture of the medical dose preparation image. 6. A work station according to claim 1 , wherein the imaging device is operable to output a video data stream comprising said image data, and further comprising: a user control device in operative communication with the processor to initiate capture of the medical dose preparation image in response to a user input received at the user control device. 7. A work station according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is operable to compare the weight to an anticipated weight of a medication receptacle supported on the support platform within the medication preparation staging region. 8. A work station according to claim 7 , wherein the processor is operable to calculate a deviation of the weight to the anticipated weight. 9. A work station according to claim 8 , wherein the deviation is associatively stored in the memory with the weight and the medical dose preparation image. 10. A work station according to claim 8 , wherein the deviation is compared to a threshold deviation, and wherein when the deviation exceeds the threshold deviation, an alert is provided to a user. 11. A work station according to claim 1 , wherein the base and the imaging device are interconnected for movement as a single unit. 12. A work station according to claim 11 , further comprising: a housing, wherein the imaging device is interconnected to and located at least partially within the housing; and, a support member interconnected to and extending between the base and the housing for supportably disposing the imaging device relative to the base. 13. A work station according to claim 12 , further comprising: at least one light source disposed in the housing, wherein the at least one light source is operable to emit light from the housing in a direction toward the medication preparation staging region. 14. A work station according to claim 13 , wherein the housing includes an opening, wherein the imaging device is disposed in a central region of the housing opening and peripheral region extends about the central region, and wherein a plurality of light sources are disposed in the peripheral region. 15. A work station according to claim 13 , wherein an intensity of the at least one light source is automatically modified from a default intensity of light emitted to a modified intensity of light emitted at a first predetermined period after the capture of the medical dose preparation image, and wherein the at least one light source is automatically returned from the modified intensity of light to the default intensity of light at a second predetermined period after the first predetermined period. 16. A work station according to claim 1 , further comprising: a display in operative communication with said processor to display said image data. 17. A work station according to claim 16 , wherein the imaging device is operable to capture a video data stream, and wherein said video data stream is displayable on said display. 18. A work station according to claim 16 , wherein a work flow specific to a medication dose order is displayable at the work station to provide guidance for preparation of the medication dose order. 19. A work station according to claim 1 , wherein said weight and said medical dose preparation image are stored in said memory as part of metadata corresponding to a medication dose order. 20. A work station according to claim 19 , wherein said metadata further includes an anticipated weight of a medication receptacle supported on the support platform within the medication preparation staging region. 21. A work station according to claim 19 , wherein said metadata is stored for remote access and verification.
