The invention claimed is: 1. A beverage cartridge for use in a beverage dispensing system, comprising: a housing; a container located within the housing and that selectively accommodates a beverage-related fluid substance; a drive port; and a pump configured to receive a driving torque via the drive port; and a fluid outlet port via which the fluid substance is expelled from the cartridge; wherein the fluid outlet port and the drive port are located on the same side of the housing; wherein the pump is configured for expelling the fluid substance from the cartridge; wherein the drive port and the fluid outlet are located on first and second different faces of the housing on the same side of the housing. 2. A cartridge as in claim 1 , comprising a connection part, associated with the drive port, for forming part of a drive coupling by which the pump is driven and another connection part, associated with the fluid outlet port, for forming part of a fluid coupling by which fluid substance is expelled from the cartridge. 3. A cartridge as in claim 2 , wherein each of said connection parts is elongate having a longitudinal axis, and said connection parts project from their associated ports such that their respective longitudinal axes are substantially parallel to one another. 4. A cartridge as in claim 1 , wherein the pump is a rotating volumetric pump. 5. A beverage dispensing system comprising: a beverage cartridge according to claim 1 ; and a dispenser comprising a dispensing assembly having a mixer; wherein the system comprises a drive coupling for transmitting torque from the dispensing assembly to the pump of the beverage cartridge and a fluid coupling for conveying fluid substance from the beverage cartridge to the dispensing assembly. 6. A system as in claim 5 , wherein the drive coupling has a longitudinal axis and the fluid coupling has a longitudinal axis, and said longitudinal axes are parallel. 7. A system as in claim 5 , wherein the fluid coupling comprises a dispenser connection part and a cartridge connection part, and the drive coupling comprises a dispenser connection part and a cartridge connection part. 8. A system as in claim 7 , wherein the junction between a said dispenser connection part and a said cartridge connection part is inside the housing. 9. A system as in claim 7 , wherein the junction between a said dispenser connection part and a said cartridge connection part is outside the housing. 10. A system as in claim 7 , wherein the junction between a said dispenser connection part and a said cartridge connection part is at the respective port. 11. A system as in claim 5 , wherein the dispensing assembly comprises a loading channel into which the beverage cartridge is pushed to establish said couplings. 12. A system as in claim 5 , wherein rotation of the drive coupling by a drive unit in the dispenser provides the driving torque to rotate the pump located within the housing of the beverage cartridge. 13. A beverage dispensing system comprising: a beverage cartridge, comprising: a housing; a container located within the housing and that selectively accommodates a beverage-related fluid substance and a pump; a drive port configured to deliver a driving torque to the pump; and a fluid outlet port via which the fluid substance may be expelled from the container; wherein the fluid outlet port and the drive port are located on the same side of the housing; and a dispenser comprising a dispensing assembly having a mixer; wherein the system comprises a drive coupling for transmitting torque from the dispensing assembly to the pump of the beverage cartridge and a fluid coupling for conveying fluid substance from the container of the beverage cartridge to the dispensing assembly; wherein the dispensing channel comprises a loading channel into which the beverage cartridge is pushed to connect said drive coupling said fluid coupling; wherein the housing has four lateral sides; wherein there is a close match between outer dimensions and shape of the lateral sides of the housing and an inner profile of the loading channel, configured to snugly receive the beverage cartridge within the loading channel; and wherein a drive unit in the dispenser selectively rotates the drive coupling to provide the driving torque to rotate a pump located within the housing of the beverage cartridge. 14. A system as in claim 13 , wherein the drive coupling has a longitudinal axis and the fluid coupling has a longitudinal axis, and said longitudinal axes are parallel. 15. A system as in claim 13 , wherein the fluid coupling comprises a dispenser connection part and a cartridge connection part, and the drive coupling comprises a dispenser connection part and a cartridge connection part. 16. A system as in claim 15 , wherein the junction between a said dispenser connection part and a said cartridge connection part is inside the housing. 17. A system as in claim 15 , wherein the junction between a said dispenser connection part and a said cartridge connection part is at the respective port. 18. A system as in claim 13 , wherein the loading channel comprises a recessed channel into which the beverage cartridge is pushed to establish said drive and fluid couplings. 19. A cartridge as in claim 1 , wherein the pump is a gear pump. 20. The cartridge of claim 1 , wherein the pump is configured to receive a rotating torque via a drive shaft received within the cartridge. 21. The system of claim 13 , wherein the dispenser is configured to direct water to the mixer and the beverage cartridge is configured to direct a beverage-related fluid substance to the mixer. 22. The system of claim 13 , wherein the cartridge is substantially flush or recessed from an outer surface of the dispenser when the cartridge is received by the dispenser.
