A starting battery for use with an internal combustion engine including an electric starting system with a starter motor is provided. The starting battery includes a battery cell and a control system including a timer and configured to operate a starter motor of an internal combustion engine. The control system is configured to actuate the starter motor to start the internal combustion engine in response to a user input and deactivate the motor after a predetermined amount of time measured by the timer.

What is claimed is: 1. A starting battery for use with an internal combustion engine including an electric starting system with a starter motor, comprising: a battery cell; a control system including a timer and configured to operate a starter motor of an internal combustion engine, wherein the control system is configured to: actuate the starter motor to start the internal combustion engine in response to a user input; and deactivate the motor after a predetermined amount of time measured by the timer; and a battery housing, wherein the battery cell and the control system are located within the battery housing. 2. The starting battery of claim 1 , wherein the user input is provided by a key switch. 3. The starting battery of claim 1 , wherein the user input is provided by a push button. 4. The starting battery of claim 1 , wherein the user input is provided by a bail start system. 5. The starting battery of claim 1 , wherein the user input is provided by a trigger start system of a pressure washer. 6. The starting battery of claim 1 , further comprising: a latch configured to secure the starting battery to a battery receiver. 7. The starting battery of claim 1 , further comprising: a display for providing information to a user. 8. The starting battery of claim 1 , wherein the battery cell comprises a lithium-ion battery cell. 9. The starting battery of claim 1 , wherein the battery cell is one of a plurality of battery cells. 10. A starting battery for use with an internal combustion engine including an electric starting system with a starter motor, comprising: a battery cell; a control system configured to operate a starter motor of an internal combustion engine, wherein the control system is configured to: actuate the starter motor to start the internal combustion engine in response to a user input; and deactivate the motor upon receipt of an input from a speed sensor indicating that the internal combustion engine is running at a sufficient speed; and a battery housing, wherein the battery cell and the control system are located within the battery housing. 11. The starting battery of claim 10 , wherein the user input is provided by a key switch. 12. The starting battery of claim 10 , wherein the user input is provided by a push button. 13. The starting battery of claim 10 , wherein the user input is provided by an automatic start system. 14. The starting battery of claim 10 , wherein the user input is provided by a bail start system. 15. The starting battery of claim 10 , wherein the user input is provided by a trigger start system of a pressure washer. 16. The starting battery of claim 10 , wherein the battery cell comprises a lithium-ion battery cell. 17. The starting battery of claim 10 , wherein the battery cell is one of a plurality of battery cells. 18. A starting battery for use with an internal combustion engine including an electric starting system with a starter motor, comprising: a battery cell; a control system configured to operate a starter motor of an internal combustion engine, wherein the control system is configured to: actuate the starter motor to start the internal combustion engine in response to a start input; and deactivate the motor upon receipt of a stop input; and a battery housing, wherein the battery cell and the control system are located within the battery housing. 19. The starting battery of claim 18 , wherein the control system includes a timer and the stop input is provided by timer upon expiration of a predetermined amount of time. 20. The starting battery of claim 18 , wherein the stop input is provided by a speed sensor indicating that the internal combustion engine is running at a sufficient speed.
