Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A visualization system for providing a preview of data obtained in a borehole and available for selection and a helmet for visualization and monitoring are described. The visualization system includes a processor configured to process the data based on user input and instructions and provide output for display on a display device; a computer-readable medium configured to store the instructions, the instructions including commands to output values of two or more types of parameters at two or more depth values for display; and a helmet including a visor configured to display the values of the two or more types of parameters at the two or more depth values.

What is claimed is: 1. A visualization system for providing a preview of data obtained in a borehole and available for selection, comprising: a processor configured to process the data based on user input and instructions and provide output for display on a display device, the processor outputting values of two or more types of parameters at two or more depth values within the borehole; a computer-readable medium configured to store the instructions, the instructions including commands to output the values of two or more types of parameters at the two or more depth values for display of one of the two or more types of parameters at the two or more depth values within the borehole on each radial segment of two or more radial segments or on each plane of two or more planes that form an angle with each other; and a helmet including a visor configured to display the values of the two or more types of parameters at the two or more depth values. 2. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor arranges the values on each of the radial segments such that a value at a greater depth is farther from a center of the radial segments than a value at a shallower depth. 3. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor arranges the values on each of the radial segments such that a value at a greater depth is closer to a center of the radial segments than a value at a shallower depth. 4. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor outputs each radial segment as a two-dimensional image with each value encoded in a corresponding color. 5. The system according to claim 1 , wherein, automatically at a preset rate, the processor rotates the display of the radial segments. 6. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor outputs the values of the two or more types of parameters at two or more of the two or more depth values for display on two or more planes that form an angle with each other. 7. The system according to claim 6 , wherein the two or more planes are orthogonal planes. 8. The system according to claim 6 , wherein the values of each of the two or more types of parameters are displayed on respective planes that are stacked in parallel. 9. A helmet for providing a preview of data obtained in a borehole and available for selection, comprising: an input interface configured to receive the data; a processor configured to process the data and output values of two or more types of parameters at two or more depth values within the borehole; a visor configured to display the values of the two or more types of parameters at the two or more depth values within the borehole on each plane of two or more planes that form an angle with each other or on each radial segment of two or more radial segments; and an output interface configured to transmit the values within a network. 10. The helmet according to claim 9 , further comprising a camera configured to obtain still or moving images. 11. The helmet according to claim 10 , wherein the processor is further configured to perform facial recognition of a person encountered by a wearer of the helmet. 12. The helmet according to claim 9 , further comprising one or more sensors configured to obtain vital sign or stress data from a wearer of the helmet, wherein the output interface transmits the vital sign or stress data within the network. 13. The helmet according to claim 9 , further comprising a system to determine a location of the helmet, wherein the processor obtains and displays, on the visor, a map, instructions, or a hazard warning, based on an activity or a location of a wearer of the helmet. 14. A helmet for visualization and monitoring of data obtained in a borehole and available for selection, comprising: a camera configured to obtain still or moving images; an input interface configured to receive information transmitted to the helmet within a network, the information including a preview of data obtained in a borehole, wherein the data includes two or more types of parameters at two or more depth values within the borehole; a location determination system configured to determine a location of the helmet; and a visor configured to provide a heads up display of the information or the still or moving images, the heads up display including a display of one of the two or more types of parameters at the two or more depth values within the borehole on each plane of two or more planes that form an angle with each other or on each radial segment of two or more radial segments. 15. The helmet according to claim 14 , wherein the location determination system includes a global positioning system (GPS) receiver. 16. The helmet according to claim 14 , wherein the camera is further configured to obtain infrared or thermal images. 17. The helmet according to claim 14 , wherein the information is a hazard warning based on the location of the helmet. 18. The helmet according to claim 14 , wherein the information includes instructions or a schematic based on an activity undertaken by a wearer of the helmet. 19. The helmet according to claim 14 , further comprising one or more sensors configured to obtain vital sign or stress data from a wearer of the helmet and an output interface configured to transmit the vital sign or stress data within a network.
