What is claimed is: 1. A system comprising: a data store storing host application data comprising instructions for executing a host application system and game application data comprising instructions for executing a game application; and a processor configured to communicate with the data store and execute a host application system, the host application system configured to: provide a host application interface including a host application service interface portion configured to provide access to the at least one host application service, and a game selection portion including at least one control configured to launch a game application, wherein the at least one host application service is configured to communicate with a network-based application server for data associated with operation of the at least one host application service; generate instructions configured to launch the game application based, at least in part, on input received by the at least one control from a user, wherein the game application is configured to execute a multi-layered interface including a game application interface and a host application overlay interface, wherein the host application overlay interface operates within the game application; during runtime of the game application, receive a defined input from the user configured to actuate the host application overlay interface within the game application; and generate instructions to display the host application overlay interface over the game application interface, wherein the host application overlay interface is displayed over at least a portion of the game application interface during runtime of the game application, wherein the host application overlay interface provides access to the at least one host application service, wherein the at least one host application service provides data to the host application overlay interface during runtime of the game application. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one host application service is a messaging service and the network-based application server is configured to communicate messages between the user and one or more other users through the network-based application server. 3. The system of claim 2 , wherein an instance of a chat conversation initiated prior to launching the game application is accessible during runtime of the game application through the host application overlay interface. 4. The system of claim 2 , wherein the chat messaging service is a text-based messaging service or a voice over IP (VOIP) service. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one host application service is a game information interface including game information associated with the game application. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one host application service is configured to display one or more advertisements. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the game application is a multiplayer game application configured to communicate with a game application server during operation of the game application. 8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the at least one host application service is a remote server control interface for controlling aspects of the operation of the multiplayer game application server. 9. The system of claim 7 , wherein the game application and the at least one host application overlay interface operate in parallel. 10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the game application interface completely covers a user interface of the system and the host application interface. 11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the defined input is a key combination of one or more input keys of an input device of the system. 12. A computer implemented method comprising: generating instructions to provide a host application interface, the host application interface including a game selection portion including at least one control configured to launch a game application, and a service interface portion configured to provide access to at least one host application service, the at least one host application service configured to communicate with a network-based application server for data associated with operation of the at least one host application service; generating instructions configured to launch the game application based, at least in part, on input received by the at least one control, wherein the game application is configured to execute a multi-layered interface including a game application interface and a host application overlay interface, wherein the host application overlay interface operates within the game application; during runtime of the game application, receiving a defined input from the user configured to actuate the host application overlay interface within the game application; generating instructions to display the host application overlay interface over the game application interface, wherein the host application overlay interface is displayed over at least a portion of the game application interface during runtime of the game application, wherein the host application overlay interface provides access to the at least one host application service; and receiving data from the at least one host application service for the host application overlay interface during runtime of the game application. 13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the at least one host application service is a messaging service and the network-based application server is configured to communicate messages between the user and one or more other users through the network-based application server. 14. The method of claim 13 further comprising instantiating an instance of a chat conversation prior to launching the game application, and accessing the chat conversation during runtime of the game application through the host application overlay interface. 15. The system of claim 13 , wherein the chat messaging service is a text-based messaging service or a voice over IP (VOIP) service. 16. The method of claim 12 further comprising accessing game information associated with the game application through a network-based resource using a web browser within the host application overlay interface. 17. The method of claim 12 further comprising accessing the host application overlay interface during runtime of a multiplayer game application. 18. A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a computing system, cause the computing system to: generate instructions to provide a host application interface, the host application interface including a game selection portion including at least one control configured to launch a game application, and a service interface portion configured to provide access to at least one host application service, the at least one host application service configured to communicate with a network-based application server for data associated with operation of the at least one host application service; generate instructions configured to launch the game application based, at least in part, on input received from a user, wherein the game application is configured to execute a multi-layered interface including a game application interface and a host application overlay interface, wherein the host application overlay interface operates within the game application; during runtime of the game application, receive a defined input from the user configured to actuate the host application overlay interface within the game application; and generate instructions to display the host application overlay interface over the game
