A compound of formula (XV): wherein R 1 represents an amino group, a protected amino group or nitro group; or a salt thereof. The compound is a p38 MAP kinase inhibitor. The compound and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts can be used for treatment of conditions, such as inflammatory diseases.

What is claimed is: 1. A compound of formula (XV): wherein R 1 represents an amino group, a protected amino group or nitro group; or a salt thereof. 2. A compound of formula (XV) according to claim 1 which is a compound of formula (VIII): wherein P 1 represents an amine protecting group; or a salt thereof. 3. A compound according to claim 2 wherein the amine protecting group is t-butyloxycarbonyl. 4. A compound of formula (XV) according to claim 1 which is a compound of formula (III): or a salt thereof. 5. A compound of formula (XV) according to claim 1 which is a compound of formula (VII): or a salt thereof.
