A milking box comprises a stall portion having a longitudinal axis. A backplane is positioned in the stall portion and moves toward the rear of the stall portion along the longitudinal axis in response to pressure applied, and toward the front of the stall portion in response to pressure removed. A robotic attacher extends from the rear of the stall portion and between the hind legs of a dairy livestock. A controller determines the position of the backplane relative to the rear of the stall portion and determines a positional offset that increases as the dairy livestock moves toward the front of the stall and decreases as it moves toward the rear of the stall. The controller further communicates a signal to move the robotic attacher along the longitudinal axis. The amount of movement is determined at least in part according to the positional offset.

What is claimed is: 1. A milking box, comprising: a stall portion having a longitudinal axis; a backplane positioned in the stall portion of the milking box, and configured to: move toward the rear of the stall portion along the longitudinal axis in response to pressure applied to a contact surface of the backplane; and move toward the front of the stall portion along the longitudinal axis in response to pressure removed from the contact surface of the backplane; a robotic attacher configured to extend from the rear of the stall portion and between the hind legs of a dairy livestock located in the stall portion; a controller that is programmed to: determine the position of the backplane relative to the rear of the stall portion; determine a positional offset along the longitudinal axis based at least in part upon the position of the backplane relative to the rear of the stall portion, wherein the positional offset increases as the dairy livestock moves toward the front of the stall and the positional offset decreases as the dairy livestock moves toward the rear of the stall; and communicate a signal to move the robotic attacher along the longitudinal axis, the amount of movement determined at least in part according to the positional offset. 2. The milking box of claim 1 , wherein: the backplane is suspended in the stall portion at an angle of suspension; moving the backplane toward the rear of the stall portion comprises decreasing the angle of suspension; and moving the backplane toward the front of the stall portion comprises increasing the angle of suspension. 3. The milking box of claim 1 , wherein the controller is programmed to determine the position of the backplane based at least in part upon information received from an encoder associated with the backplane. 4. The milking box of claim 1 , further comprising a feed bowl positioned in the front of the stall portion, wherein the controller is further configured to: communicate a signal instructing the feed bowl to move toward the rear of the stall portion; determine that the backplane has moved toward the rear of the stall portion; and communicate a signal instructing the feed bowl to stop moving based at least in part upon the determination that the backplane has moved. 5. The milking box of claim 1 , further comprising: a sensor that is configured to read an identifier associated with the dairy livestock and to communicate the identifier to the controller; wherein the controller is further programmed to: determine the size of the dairy livestock based at least in part upon the identifier; and determine a distance to move the feed bowl along the longitudinal axis based at least in part upon the size of the dairy livestock. 6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the controller is further programmed to: determine a type of feed to dispense based at least in part upon the identifier; and communicate a signal to the feed bowl to dispense the type of feed. 7. The milking box of claim 1 , the backplane further comprising a manure gutter. 8. The milking box of claim 1 , the backplane further comprising: a manure gutter that directs manure outside of the stall portion through an outlet, the outlet pointing in the direction of a sidewall of the milking box. 9. The milking box of claim 1 , further comprising a cylinder associated with the backplane, the cylinder configured to apply pressure to the backplane to extend the backplane toward the front of the stall portion. 10. A milking box, comprising: a stall portion; a robotic attacher configured to extend from the rear of the stall portion and between the hind legs of a dairy livestock located in the stall portion; a controller that is programmed to: determine the position of a backplane relative to the rear of the stall portion; determine an x-offset based at least in part upon the position of the backplane relative to the rear of the stall portion; and communicate a signal instructing the robotic attacher to move in an x-direction, the amount of movement determined at least in part according to the x-offset. 11. The milking box of claim 10 , wherein the controller is further programmed to determine the position of the backplane based at least in part upon information received from an encoder associated with the backplane. 12. The milking box of claim 10 , further comprising a feed bowl positioned in the front of the stall portion, wherein the controller is further configured to: communicate a signal instructing the feed bowl to move toward the rear of the stall portion; determine that the backplane has moved toward the rear of the stall portion; and communicate a signal instructing the feed bowl to stop moving based at least in part upon the determination that the backplane has moved. 13. The milking box of claim 10 , wherein the controller is further programmed to: determine that the backplane has moved toward the front of the stall portion; and increase the x-offset in response to determining that the backplane has moved toward the front of the stall portion. 14. The milking box of claim 10 , wherein the controller is further programmed to: determine that the backplane has moved toward the rear of the stall portion; and decrease the x-offset in response to determining that the backplane has moved toward the rear of the stall portion. 15. The milking box of claim 10 , wherein the controller is programmed to: determine that the backplane moved based at least in part upon a signal received from an encoder; and adjust the x-offset in response to determining that the backplane has moved; and wherein the encoder is configured to measure movements of a cylinder associated with the backplane. 16. The milking box of claim 15 , wherein the cylinder applies a pressure to extend the backplane toward the front of the stall portion such that when a dairy livestock in contact with the backplane moves forward, the backplane substantially maintains contact with the dairy livestock. 17. The milking box of claim 10 , wherein the controller is further programmed to: determine the presence of a dairy livestock within the stall portion; determine that the x-offset exceeds a threshold; and communicate a signal instructing a feed bowl to move toward the dairy livestock. 18. The milking box of claim 17 , wherein the controller is programmed to: determine that the x-offset is less than the threshold; and communicate a signal instructing the feed bowl to stop moving. 19. A milking box, comprising: a stall portion having a longitudinal axis; a robotic attacher configured to extend from the rear of the stall portion and between the hind legs of a dairy livestock located in the stall portion; a controller that is programmed to: determine the position of a backplane relative to the rear of the stall portion; determine a positional offset along the longitudinal axis based at least in part upon the position of the backplane relative to the rear of the stall portion; and communicate a signal instructing the robotic attacher to move along the longitudinal axis, the amount of movement determined at least in part according to the positional offset. 20.
