The present invention provides a positive electrode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a lithium transition metal composite oxide represented by the following formula: Li a Ni x Mn 2-x Fe y B z O 4 wherein 1.00≦a≦1.30, 0.30≦x≦0.60, 0.003≦y≦0.200, and 0.003≦z≦0.200.

What is claimed is: 1. A positive electrode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a lithium transition metal composite oxide represented by the following formula: Li a Ni x Mn 2-x Fe y B z O 4 wherein 1.00≦a≦1.30, 0.30≦x≦0.60, 0.003≦y≦0.200, and 0.003≦z≦0.200. 2. The positive electrode active material according to claim 1 , wherein 0.30≦x≦0.50. 3. The positive electrode active material according to claim 1 , wherein 0.020≦y+2z≦0.100. 4. The positive electrode active material according to claim 2 , wherein 0.020≦y+2z≦0.100.
