Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A method for providing a safe and healthy water and water-based product, comprising: testing pretreated reverse osmosis water to determine whether it meets a first set of pre-defined specifications; introducing a pre-defined nutrient composition into the water, wherein the predefined nutrient composition comprising one or more of mineral nutrients, trace elements and nutritional supplements; testing the water to determine whether it meets a second set of pre-defined specifications; and disinfecting the water along with its container by UV irradiation from a UV light source to obtain a water product.

What is claimed is: 1. A system for dispensing safe and healthy water and water-based product, the system comprising: an inlet for receiving pre-treatment water; an analytical unit comprising one or more probes and a circuit system for receiving and processing electrical signals from the one or more probes; an alert component comprising a light and/or acoustic alarm; a UV light source configured to disinfect the water and a drinking container the water is in; a UV light shield arranged to contain the drinking container when it is positioned into the shield a holder for receiving a sealed package of nutrient compositions for addition to the water being processed; and an outlet for dispensing water into the drinking container for consumption. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the sealed package of nutrient compositions includes a solution or a suspension or a dry powder or pellets or capsules. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the analytical unit tests the water to determine whether it meets a first set of pre-defined specifications and tests the water to determine whether it meets a second set of pre-defined specifications after the nutrient compositions are added to the water. 4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the analytical test unit tests the water to determine whether the water meets a second set of pre-defined specifications when the water is in the drinking container. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the sealed package of nutrient compositions includes one or more of mineral nutrients, trace elements and nutritional supplements. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the analytical unit tests the water to determine whether it meets pre-defined specifications with respect to electrical conductivity or TDS or pH. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the UV light source disinfects the water with irradiation with UV light for a period from about 1 second to 10 minutes. 8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the sealed package of nutrient compositions include mineral nutrients selected from: Ca 2+ , HCO 3 − , Mg 2+ , NO 3 2− , K + , Na + , NO 3 − , SO 4 2− . 9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the sealed package of nutrient compositions include trace elements selected from B (boron), Cu, I, Fe, Mn, Se, and Zn. 10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the sealed package of nutrient compositions include nutritional supplements as vitamins. 11. The system of claim 1 , wherein 10 mL to 5.0 L of water is dispensed per sealed package of nutrient compositions. 12. The system of claim 1 , wherein a fixed volume of the sealed package of nutrient compositions is added to a fixed volume of water. 13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the UV light source disinfects the water and the container the water is in to obtain a water product comprising less than 1 count/L of E. Coli . 14. The system of claim 1 , wherein the UV light source disinfects the water and the container the water is in to obtain a water product comprising less than 0.001 mg/L of Hg. 15. The system of claim 1 , wherein the UV light source disinfects the water and the container the water is in to obtain a water product comprising less than 0.01 mg/L of Pb. 16. The system of claim 1 , wherein the UV light source disinfects the water and the container the water is in to obtain a water product comprising less than 0.060 mg/L of CH 3 Cl. 17. The system of claim 1 , wherein the sealed package of nutrient compositions is one of a plurality of sealed packages of nutrient compositions, each sealed package including a different nutrient composition combination. 18. The system of claim 1 , wherein the pre-treatment water is pretreated by reverse osmosis.
