Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An assembly for supporting a vehicle chassis on a ground engaging element of the vehicle includes a first attachment component for attaching the assembly to the ground engaging element, a second attachment component for attaching the assembly to the chassis and an adjustment component for shifting the first attachment component between a plurality of operating positions relative to the second attachment component. A suspension component is operably interposed between the first attachment component and the second attachment component is configured to regulate motion transfer between the first attachment component and the second attachment component. The suspension component functions independently of the operating position. A locking mechanism mechanically locks the assembly into any of the plurality of operating positions.

Having thus described the preferred embodiment of the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be protected by Letters Patent includes the following: 1. An assembly for supporting a vehicle chassis on a wheel of the vehicle, the assembly comprising: a wheel attachment component for attaching the assembly to a wheel; a chassis attachment component for attaching the assembly to a chassis of the vehicle; a suspension component; a first adjustment element coupled with the chassis attachment component and coupled with a first portion of the suspension component; a second adjustment element coupled with the chassis attachment component and coupled with the first portion of the suspension component, the first and second adjustment elements configured to shift the first portion of the suspension component between a plurality of operating positions relative to the chassis attachment component; a first strut bar coupled with the wheel attachment component and coupled with a second portion of the suspension component; and a second strut bar coupled with the wheel attachment component and coupled with the second portion of the suspension component, the suspension component configured to regulate motion transfer between the wheel attachment component and the chassis attachment component. 2. The assembly as set forth in claim 1 , further comprising a pivot actuator for pivoting the assembly relative to the vehicle chassis. 3. The assembly as set forth in claim 1 , further comprising a motor for driving rotation of the wheel relative to the chassis. 4. The assembly as set forth in claim 1 , the suspension component including a first suspension member corresponding to the first portion of the suspension component, wherein the first adjustment element is connected to a first end of the first suspension member and the second adjustment element is connected to a second end of the first suspension member. 5. The assembly as set forth in claim 4 , the suspension component including a second suspension member corresponding to the second portion of the suspension component, wherein the first strut bar is connected to a first end of the second suspension member and the second strut bar is connected to a second end of the second suspension member. 6. The assembly as set forth in claim 5 , further comprising a locking mechanism for mechanically locking the first suspension member into any of a plurality of operating positions relative to the chassis attachment component. 7. The assembly as set forth in claim 6 , the locking mechanism being remotely actuated by a user. 8. The assembly as set forth in claim 6 , the locking mechanism including— a first locking bar connected to the first suspension member and coupled with the chassis attachment component, and a second locking bar connected to the first suspension member and coupled with the chassis attachment component. 9. An agricultural machine comprising: a chassis; a plurality of ground engaging elements supporting the chassis above a ground surface; a motor for driving at least one of the ground engaging elements to thereby propel the machine along the ground surface; and a plurality of height adjustment assemblies, each assembly configured to support a portion of the chassis on one of the ground engaging elements and to selectively raise and lower the chassis relative to the ground surface, the height adjustment assemblies being remotely controlled by a user, each of the height adjustment assemblies including— a first attachment component for attaching the assembly to one of the ground engaging elements, a second attachment component for attaching the assembly to a chassis of the vehicle, a suspension component, a first adjustment element coupled with the second attachment component and coupled with a first portion of the suspension component, a second adjustment element coupled with the second attachment component and coupled with the first portion of the suspension component, the first and second adjustment elements configured to shift the first portion of the suspension component between a plurality of operating positions relative to the second attachment component, a first strut bar coupled with the first attachment component and coupled with a second portion of the suspension component, and a second strut bar coupled with the first attachment component and coupled with the second portion of the suspension component, the suspension component configured to regulate motion transfer between the first attachment component and the second attachment component.
