Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An inkjet recording apparatus includes an ink tank, a recording head, an ink sensor, a monitor, an operation panel, and a controller configured to control operation thereof. The controller receives a completion signal indicating completion of ink injection, and receives a first signal or a second signal from the ink sensor based on whether a predetermined amount of ink is sensed in the ink chamber. Based on the completion signal and receipt of the first signal, inquiry information is displayed on the monitor regarding whether ink injection into the ink chamber is completed. Based on the completion signal and receipt of the second signal, a notification is displayed on the monitor that is based on the ink sensor not sensing the predetermined amount of ink.

What is claimed is: 1. An inkjet recording apparatus comprising: an ink tank forming an ink chamber and including an injection inlet; a recording head configured to eject ink retained in the ink chamber to record an image on a sheet; an ink sensor positioned to sense ink in the ink chamber; a monitor; an operation panel configured to receive user input; a controller configured to control operation of the recording head, the monitor, and the operation panel, wherein the controller is configured to: receive a completion signal indicating completion of ink injection; receive a first signal or a second signal from the ink sensor based on whether a predetermined amount of ink is sensed in the ink chamber, the first signal corresponding to the ink sensor sensing the predetermined amount of ink and the second signal corresponding to the ink sensor not sensing the predetermined amount of ink; based on the completion signal and receipt of the first signal, control the monitor to perform inquiry processing to display inquiry information on the monitor regarding whether ink injection into the ink chamber is completed, the inquiry processing allowing receipt at the operation panel of a response to the inquiry information; based on the completion signal and receipt of the second signal, control the monitor to perform notification processing to display a notification on the monitor that is based on the ink sensor not sensing the predetermined amount of ink. 2. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the notification includes a prompt to inject ink into the ink chamber. 3. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of ink chambers and a plurality of injection inlets, each of the plurality of ink chambers associated with a different one of the plurality of injection inlets. 4. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein the tank includes the plurality of ink chambers. 5. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein the plurality of ink chambers includes the ink chamber to retain a first color ink and a second ink chamber to retain a second color ink different from the first color ink. 6. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 3 , further comprising a cover movable between a covered position in which each of the plurality of injection inlets are covered and an exposed position in which each of the plurality of injection inlets is exposed. 7. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 6 , further comprising a cover sensor configured to output a first positional signal or a second positional signal depending on a position of the cover, the first positional signal of the cover sensor corresponding to the cover being positioned in the covered position and the second positional signal of the cover sensor corresponding to the cover being positioned in the exposed position; wherein the first positional signal corresponds to the completion signal. 8. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the controller includes a memory that further includes an initial flag area configured to store a first value or a second value based on whether an initial processing has been completed, the first value being stored if the initial processing has not been completed and the second value being stored in response to completion of the initial processing, and wherein the initial processing corresponds to filling a flow path from the ink chamber to the recording head with ink. 9. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein the controller is configured to perform: the inquiry processing in response to the completion signal, the receipt of the first signal, and the first value being stored in the initial flag area; the notification processing in response to the completion signal, the receipt of the second signal, and the first value being stored in the initial flag area. 10. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 9 , wherein, in response to the indication of completion and the second value being stored in the initial flag area, the controller is configured to perform the inquiry processing, regardless of whether the first signal or the second signal is received by the controller. 11. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein, in the inquiry processing, the controller is configured to control the monitor to display first inquiry information regarding whether injection of the first color ink is completed. 12. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 11 , wherein, in the inquiry processing, the controller is configured to control the monitor to display second inquiry information regarding whether injection of the second color ink is completed. 13. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein the controller is configured to control the monitor to display the second inquiry information after completion of display of the first inquiry information. 14. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein, in the inquiry processing, the controller is configured to perform a first inquiry processing and a second inquiry processing in response to termination of the first inquiry processing, wherein, in the first inquiry processing, the controller controls the monitor to display the first inquiry information and allows receipt at the operation panel of a response to the first inquiry information, and wherein, in the second inquiry processing, the controller controls the monitor to display the second inquiry information and controls the operation panel to allow receipt at the operation panel of a response to the second inquiry information. 15. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the controller is configured to further perform: first notification processing in response to receipt of the second positional signal from the cover sensor, the first notification processing corresponding to display on the monitor of a prompt to inject ink into the ink chamber, and second notification processing in response to receipt of the first positional signal from the cover sensor and the second signal from the ink sensor, the second notification processing corresponding to display on the monitor of a prompt to move the cover to the exposed position and to inject ink into the ink chamber. 16. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 15 , wherein the controller is configured to further perform: restriction processing in response to receipt of the second positional signal from the cover sensor, the restriction processing corresponding to restricting ejection of ink by the recording head; and cancellation processing in response to completion of the inquiry processing, the cancellation processing corresponding to cancelling the restricting of ejection of ink by the recording head. 17. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein the first color is black. 18. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a facsimile receiver configured to receive facsimile data from an external apparatus, wherein the recording head is configured to record an image based on the received facsimile data. 19. The inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to perform: count processing corresponding to counting an amount of ink ejected by the recording head, and initialization processing performed based on receipt of a response to the inquiry information indicating that ink
