Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A headset may comprise at least one ear cup and an ear cup shaper configurable into at least two configurations. When the ear cup shaper is configured in a first of the configurations, the ear cup is shaped to contact the temple of a wearer of the headset. When the adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in a second of the configurations, the ear cup is shaped to accommodate the temple piece of a pair of eyeglasses of a wearer of the headset. The ear cup may comprise a filler material such as foam, and the adjustable ear cup shaper when configured in the second of the configurations may create a depression in the foam. The adjustable ear cup shaper may comprise a strap and/or a plunger.

What is claimed: 1. A system comprising: a headset comprising at least one ear cup and an adjustable ear cup shaper configurable into at least two configurations, wherein: when said adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in a first of said configurations, a depression suitable for accommodating an eyeglass temple piece is formed in a surface of said ear cup; when said adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in a second of said configurations, said depression is not formed in said surface of said ear cup; and said adjustable ear CUP shaper comprises a plunger. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a strap. 3. The system of claim 2 , wherein a tag end of said strap protrudes from said ear cup to enable adjustment of said strap among said first of said configurations and said second of said configurations. 4. The system of claim 2 , wherein: said first of said configurations corresponds to a first amount of tension on said strap; and said second of said configurations corresponds to a second amount of tension on said strap, said first amount of tension being greater than said second amount of tension. 5. The system of claim 2 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a retainer configured to maintain a desired amount of tension on said strap. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a magnet and is held in said second of said configurations by a magnetic force of said magnet. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a mechanical latch that, when engaged with said plunger, holds said plunger in said second of said positions. 8. A system comprising: an adjustable ear cup shaper that is: configured to be attached to an ear cup of a headset; and configurable into at least two configurations, wherein: when said adjustable ear cup shaper is attached to said ear cup and configured in a first of said configurations, a depression suitable for accommodating an eyeglass temple piece is formed in a surface of said ear cup; when said adjustable ear cup shaper is attached to said ear cup and configured in a second of said configurations, said depression is not formed in said surface of said ear cup; and said adjustable ear CUP shaper comprises a plunger configurable between an extended and retracted position. 9. The system of claim 8 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a strap. 10. The system of claim 9 , wherein: said first of said configurations corresponds to a first amount of tension on said strap; and said second of said configurations corresponds to a second amount of tension on said strap, said first amount of tension being greater than said second amount of tension. 11. The system of claim 9 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a retainer configured to maintain a desired amount of tension on said strap. 12. The system of claim 8 , wherein said plunger forms said depression when in said retracted position. 13. The system of claim 1 , wherein said ear cup comprises foam that is more compressed when said adjustable ear cup shaper is in said first configuration than when said adjustable ear cup shaper is in said second configuration. 14. The system of claim 8 , wherein said ear cup comprises foam that is more compressed when said adjustable ear cup shaper is in said first configuration than when said adjustable ear cup shaper is in said second configuration. 15. A system comprising: a headset comprising at least one ear cup and an adjustable ear cup shaper configurable into at least two configurations, wherein: when said adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in a first of said configurations, a depression suitable for accommodating an eyeglass temple piece is formed in a surface of said ear cup; when said adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in a second of said configurations, said depression is not formed in said surface of said ear cup; and said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a strap. 16. The system of claim 15 , wherein a tag end of said strap protrudes from said ear cup to enable adjustment of said strap among said first of said configurations and said second of said configurations. 17. The system of claim 15 , wherein: said first of said configurations corresponds to a first amount of tension on said strap; and said second of said configurations corresponds to a second amount of tension on said strap, said first amount of tension being greater than said second amount of tension. 18. The system of claim 15 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a retainer configured to maintain a desired amount of tension on said strap. 19. The system of claim 15 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a magnet and is held in said second of said configurations by a magnetic force of said magnet. 20. The system of claim 15 , wherein said ear cup comprises foam that is more compressed when said adjustable ear cup shaper is in said first configuration than when said adjustable ear cup shaper is in said second configuration. 21. A system comprising: an adjustable ear cup shaper that is: configured to be attached to an ear cup of a headset; and configurable into at least two configurations, wherein: when said adjustable ear cup shaper is attached to said ear cup and configured in a first of said configurations, a depression suitable for accommodating an eyeglass temple piece is formed in a surface of said ear cup; when said adjustable ear cup shaper is attached to said ear cup and configured in a second of said configurations, said depression is not formed in said surface of said ear cup; and said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a strap. 22. The system of claim 21 , wherein: said first of said configurations corresponds to a first amount of tension on said strap; and said second of said configurations corresponds to a second amount of tension on said strap, said first amount of tension being greater than said second amount of tension. 23. The system of claim 21 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a retainer configured to maintain a desired amount of tension on said strap. 24. The system of claim 21 , wherein said ear cup comprises foam that is more compressed when said adjustable ear cup shaper is in said first configuration than when said adjustable ear cup shaper is in said second configuration. 25. A system comprising: a headset comprising at least one ear cup and an adjustable ear cup shaper configurable into at least two configurations, wherein: when said adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in a first of said configurations, a depression suitable for accommodating an eyeglass temple piece is formed in a surface of said ear cup; when said adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in a second of said configurations, said depression is not formed in said surface of said ear cup; and said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a magnet and is held in said second of said configurations by a magnetic force of said magnet. 26. The system of claim 25 , wherein said ear cup comprises foam that is more compressed when said adjustable ear cup shaper is in said first configuration than when said adjustable ear cup shaper is in said second configuration.
