I claim: 1. A composite polymer composition comprising: an emulsion polymerization product of: (i) an aqueous dispersion comprising a melt kneading product of one or more polyolefins, from 2 to 25 wt % of one or more dispersion stabilizing agents, water and optionally a neutralizing agent, and (ii) one or more (meth)acrylic monomers; wherein the one or more polyolefins have a Tg equal to or less than 50° C. and comprise from 0.5 to 100 wt % functionalized polyolefin, wherein said functionalized polyolefin is a maleic anhydride grafted polyolefin, and wherein functionalization of the functionalized polyolefin component occurs prior to formation of the aqueous dispersion; and wherein the melt kneading product of one or more polyolefins comprises polymer particles having a volume average particle size between 150 nm and 2000 nm; and wherein the one or more (meth)acrylic monomers are polymerized onto the polymer particles to form composite polymer particles. 2. The composite polymer composition according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more polyolefins are crosslinked with peroxides during formation of the aqueous dispersion. 3. The composite polymer composition according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more polyolefins are crosslinked with peroxides following formation of the aqueous dispersion. 4. The composite polymer composition according to claim 1 , wherein the ratio by weight of the one or more polyolefins to the one or more (meth)acrylic monomers is between 60:40 and 95:5. 5. The composite polymer composition according to claim 1 , wherein the functionalized polyolefin is prepared by one or more processes selected from the group consisting of thermal grafting, photo initiation and redox radical generation.
