Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An image forming apparatus determines whether crease processing at a plurality of portions set on the sheet includes crease processing on two, front and back surfaces of the sheet; determines, if it is determined that crease processing includes crease processing on the two surfaces of the sheet, whether a connected post-processing apparatus that performs crease processing on a sheet can perform crease processing on the two, front and back surfaces of the sheet by one feeding; and controls, if it is determined that the connected post-processing apparatus cannot perform crease processing on the two surfaces by one feeding, to change, to one of the front and back surfaces of the sheet based on attribute information of the sheet, a surface to be processed in crease processing at the plurality of portions.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. An image forming apparatus which connects with a creaser configured to crease a sheet, comprising: a printer configured to print an image on a sheet; an input device configured to input a print job for printing an image on a sheet and creasing the sheet; a display device; and a controller having a processor and a memory, configured to; (i) determine whether the print job includes setting information of creasing at a plurality of crease positions including a first crease position of a front surface of a sheet and a second crease position of a back surface of the sheet, (ii) if it is determined that the setting information is included in the print job, determine whether the connected creaser has a function capable of creasing both the front and back surfaces of a sheet, (iii) if it is determined that the connected creaser does not have the function, control the display device to display a screen for changing the setting information of the print job so as to crease a single surface of the sheet, based on a type of the sheet used in the print job, and (iv) based on the print job of which setting information has been changed via the screen, control the printer to print an image on a sheet, and control the connected creaser to crease the sheet on which the image is printed by the printer. 2. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the controller displays a setting window for accepting the setting information indicating that the sheet is to be creased on both the front and back surfaces of the sheet, and prompts a user to input a crease setting change via the setting window, thereby changing the surface to be processed in crease processing at the plurality of crease positions. 3. The apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the setting window accepts settings of addition and deletion of crease processing, a surface to undergo crease processing, and a crease position. 4. The apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein when new crease processing is added to the sheet, the controller controls the setting window to set crease processing on the same surface as a surface of already set crease processing. 5. The apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the setting window displays a surface to undergo crease processing, a crease position, and a folding direction at the crease position in crease processing set for the sheet. 6. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the controller controls to uniformly change crease processing at the plurality of crease positions to crease processing on only one surface. 7. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the controller controls to delete crease processing on one surface, out of crease processing at the plurality of crease positions. 8. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the controller controls to, if grammage of the sheet is smaller than a predetermined threshold, uniformly change crease processing at the plurality of crease positions to crease processing on one surface, and if the grammage of the sheet is not smaller than the predetermined threshold, delete crease processing on one surface, out of crease processing at the plurality of crease positions. 9. A method of controlling an image forming apparatus which connects with a creaser configured to crease a sheet, the image forming apparatus comprising: a printer configured to print an image on a sheet; an input device configured to input a print job for printing an image on a sheet and creasing the sheet; a display device; and a controller having a processor and a memory, wherein the method comprises: determining whether the print job includes setting information of creasing at a plurality of crease positions including a first crease position of a front surface of a sheet and a second crease position of a back surface of the sheet; determining, if it is determined that the setting information is included in the print job, whether the connected creaser has a function capable of creasing both the front and back surfaces of a sheet; controlling, if it is determined that the connected creaser does not have the function, the display device to display a screen for changing the setting information of the print job so as to crease a single surface of the sheet, based on a type of the sheet used in the print job; and based on the print job of which setting information has been changed via the screen, controlling the printer to print an image on a sheet, and controlling the connected creaser to crease the sheet on which the image is printed by the printer.
