What is claimed is: 1. A segmented scaffold, comprising: at least first and second radially expandable and disconnected polymer scaffold segments arranged end to end, each of the first and second segments comprising: undulating cylindrical rings composed of struts and forming a plurality of diamond-shaped cells, and a first ring at a first end and a second ring at a second end, wherein each of the first and second rings having alternating peak and valley undulations, a peak is formed by a side from three diamond-shaped cells, the peaks of the first ring extend in a first direction, the peaks of the second ring extend in a second direction opposite the first direction, and the peaks of the first ring are longitudinally aligned with the peaks of the second ring; wherein the first ring of the second segment is arranged with the second ring of the first segment such that the peaks of the first ring of the second segment overlap the valleys of the second ring of the first segment; each segment being cut from a polymer tube or sheet, each segment configured for being crimped to a balloon, and prior to crimping each segment has a pre-crimp diameter and a length, and the length is at least 1.5 times the pre-crimp diameter. 2. The segmented scaffold of claim 1 , wherein there are 2 to 6 or 2 to 3 undulating cylindrical rings per segment. 3. The segmented scaffold of claim 1 , wherein a minimum length of the first segment is a longitudinal length of one diamond-shaped cell. 4. The segmented scaffold of claim 1 , wherein the first segment has a maximum length equal to three-times a longitudinal length of a diamond-shaped cell.
