An HVAC actuator may include a rotatable output shaft, a drive mechanism configured to selectively drive the output shaft, two or more wiring terminals, and a removable blocking tab configured to block wire attachment to at least one of the two or more wiring terminals. When the removable tab is removed, wire attachment to the previously blocked at least one wire terminals may no longer blocked. The removable block tab may be a break-away tab. The HVAC actuator may include a housing enclosing the drive mechanism, and the break-away tab may be integral to the housing. In some instances, the removable tab, once removed, is not configured to be reattached, but this is not required.

What is claimed is: 1. An HVAC actuator, comprising: an output shaft rotatable between a first end position and a second end position; a drive mechanism configured to selectively drive the output shaft toward the first end position; two or more wiring terminals; and a removable blocking tab configured to physically obstruct wire attachment to at least one of the two or more wiring terminals, wherein when the removable blocking tab is removed, wire attachment to the previously physically obstructed at least one wire terminals is no longer physically obstructed by the removable blocking tab. 2. The HVAC actuator of claim 1 , wherein the removable blocking tab is a break-away tab. 3. The HVAC actuator of claim 2 , further comprising a housing enclosing the drive mechanism, wherein the break-away tab is integral to the housing. 4. The HVAC actuator of claim 1 , wherein the removable blocking tab, once removed, is not configured to be reattached. 5. The HVAC actuator of claim 1 , wherein the two or more wiring terminals include a first wiring terminal, a second wiring terminal and a third wiring terminal, wherein the removable blocking tab is configured to physically obstruct wire attachment to the second wiring terminal. 6. The HVAC actuator of claim 1 , further comprising a spring configured to drive the output shaft toward the second end position. 7. The HVAC actuator of claim 6 , wherein the two or more wiring terminals comprise: a first end position wire terminal that, when asserted, causes the drive mechanism to drive the output shaft toward the first end position; a second end position wire terminal that, when asserted, causes an indicator light to illuminate and allows the spring to drive the output shaft toward the second end position; and a common wiring terminal; wherein the removable blocking tab is configured to physically obstruct wire attachment to the second end position wire terminal. 8. The HVAC actuator of claim 7 , wherein the first end position corresponds to a more closed position than the second end position. 9. The HVAC actuator of claim 1 , further comprising a first wire guide defining an aperture for receiving and guiding an end of a wire to a first one of the two or more wiring terminals, the removable blocking tab situated in front of the aperture of the first wire guide to physically obstruct insertion of the wire into the aperture and inadvertent connection of the wire to the first one of the two or more wiring terminals. 10. The HVAC actuator of claim 1 , further comprising: a first wire guide defining a first aperture for receiving and guiding an end of a first wire to a first one of the two or more wiring terminals; a second wire guide defining a second aperture for receiving and guiding an end of a second wire to a second one of the two or more wiring terminals; a third wire guide defining a third aperture for receiving and guiding an end of a third wire to a third one of the two or more wiring terminals; and the removable blocking tab situated in front of the second aperture of the second wire guide to physically obstruct insertion of an improper wire into the second aperture and inadvertent connection of the improper wire to the second one of the two or more wiring terminals. 11. The HVAC actuator of claim 10 , wherein the second wire guide is positioned between the first wire guide and the third wire guide. 12. The HVAC actuator of claim 10 , wherein the first wire guide, second wire guide and third wire guide are formed from a common part. 13. The HVAC actuator of claim 1 , further comprising a wire wrap post situated adjacent the two or more wiring terminals. 14. An HVAC device, comprising: a housing; two or more wiring terminals; and a break-away blocking tab configured to physically obstruct wire attachment to at least one of the two or more wiring terminals, wherein when the break-away tab is broken-away, wire attachment to the previously physically obstructed at least one wire terminals is no longer physically obstructed by the break-away blocking tab. 15. The HVAC device of claim 14 , further comprising a first wire guide defining an aperture for receiving and guiding an end of a wire to a first one of the two or more wiring terminals, break-away blocking tab is situated in front of the aperture of the first wire guide to physically obstruct insertion of the wire into the aperture and inadvertent connect of the wire to the first one of the two or more wiring terminals. 16. The HVAC device of claim 14 , further comprising: a first wire guide defining a first aperture for receiving and guiding an end of a first wire to a first one of the two or more wiring terminals; a second wire guide defining a second aperture for receiving and guiding an end of a second wire to a second one of the two or more wiring terminals; a third wire guide defining a third aperture for receiving and guiding an end of a third wire to a third one of the two or more wiring terminals; and the removable blocking tab is situated in front of the second aperture of the second wire guide to physically obstruct insertion of a second wire into the second aperture and inadvertent connection of the second wire to the second one of the two or more wiring terminals. 17. The HVAC device of claim 16 , wherein the second wire guide is positioned between the first wire guide and the third wire guide. 18. The HVAC device of claim 16 , wherein the first wire guide, second wire guide and third wire guide are formed from a common part. 19. A method for connecting two or more wires to an HVAC device, the method comprising: identifying which of two or more wiring terminals of the HVAC device need to be connected to a wire, wherein at least one of the two or more wiring terminals of the HVAC device has a removable blocking tab that physically obstructs access to the corresponding wiring terminal; if a wire needs to be connected to the at least one of the two or more wiring terminals that has a removable blocking tab that physically obstructs access to the corresponding wiring terminal, removing the removable blocking tab and then connecting a wire to the corresponding wiring terminal; and if a wire needs to be connected to one or more of the two or more wiring terminals that does not have a removable blocking tab that physically obstructs access to the corresponding wiring terminal, connecting a wire to the corresponding wiring terminal. 20. The method of claim 19 , wherein the removable blocking tab is a break-away blocking tab, and wherein if a wire needs to be connected to the at least one of the two or more wiring terminals that has a break-away blocking tab that physically obstructs access to the corresponding wiring terminal, breaking away the break-away blocking tab and then connecting a wire to the corresponding wiring terminal. 21. The method of claim 20 , wherein the break-away blocking tab, once broken-away, is not configured to be reattached.
