Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A fixed wing of an aircraft, having a main wing extending over a half-span with a wing box including spars extending along the spanwise direction of the main wing, ribs arranged one in back of the other viewed in the spanwise direction, and an outer skin. The wing box includes a wing box base section (K 10 ) and a wing box adapter section, that forms the outer end area of the wing box, as viewed from the wing root, and is designed to secure a wing tip device. In its nominal state of construction, the dihedral angle of the wing box adapter section referring to the respective local spanwise direction continuously increases by at most 60 degrees from the outer rib of the wing box base section (K 10 ) up to the outermost rib of the wing box adapter section.

The invention claimed is: 1. A wing arrangement comprising: a wing of an aircraft, the wing comprising a main wing extending over a half-span, wherein a wing chord of the main wing at a location of an outermost rib of the main wing viewed from a wing root measures a first percentage of a half-span of the main wing, the main wing comprises a wing base area and a wing adapter section that forms an outer end area of the main wing as viewed from the wing root and is designed to secure a wing tip device selected from a variety of wing tip devices, the wing adapter section extends from an outer rib of the wing base area and over a second percentage of the half-span of the main wing up to an outer rib of the wing adapter section forming the outermost rib of the main wing, wherein a dihedral angle of the wing adapter section that refers to a respective local spanwise direction continuously increases from the outer rib of the wing base area up to the outermost rib of the wing adapter section; and wherein the wing tip devices each comprise different aerodynamic properties and wherein a wing tip device can be selected from the variety of wing tip devices and the selected wing tip device is configured to be selectively secured to the wing adapter section. 2. The wing arrangement according to claim 1 , wherein the wing adapter section comprises an integral part of the main wing. 3. The wing arrangement according to claim 1 , wherein the wing adapter section is a separate part of the main wing attached thereto. 4. The wing arrangement according to claim 1 , wherein the main wing comprises a wing box including spars extending along a spanwise direction of the main wing, a plurality of ribs arranged one after another viewed in the spanwise direction, and an outer skin, wherein the wing chord of the main wing at the location of the outermost rib of the main wing viewed from the wing root measures a percentage of a half-span of the wing box, wherein the wing box comprises a wing box base section and a wing box adapter section that forms an outer end area of the wing box, as viewed from the wing root, and is designed to secure the wing tip device, wherein the wing box adapter section extends from an outer rib of the wing box base section and over a percentage of the half-span of the wing box up to an outer rib of the wing box adapter section forming the outermost rib of the main wing, and wherein a dihedral angle of the wing box adapter section that refers to a respective local spanwise direction continuously increases by between 10 and 60 degrees from the outer rib of the wing box base section up to the outermost rib of the wing box adapter section. 5. The wing arrangement according to claim 4 , wherein a local sweep of a leading edge of a fixed wing in a nominal state of construction increases by between 10 and 45 degrees in an area of the wing box adapter section. 6. The wing arrangement according to claim 4 , wherein an outer end of the wing box adapter section comprises a connection device configured to selectively secure the wing tip device selected from the variety of wing tip devices. 7. The wing arrangement according to claim 6 , wherein the wing box adapter section that forms the outer end area of the wing box is designed for selective attachment of the wing tip device, wherein the wing tip device is configured to be joined with an inner rib thereof to an outer rib of the wing box base section. 8. The wing arrangement according to 6 , wherein the connection device is designed as a positive-locking part on the outer end as viewed from the wing root to positively attach each of the wing tip device to be coupled with the wing box adapter section to the wing box adapter section. 9. The wing arrangement according to claim 4 , wherein a local sweep of a leading edge of a fixed wing increases by at most approximately 45 degrees in an area of the wing box adapter section. 10. The wing arrangement according to claim 4 , wherein a local sweep of a trailing edge of the wing increases by at most approximately 5 degrees in an area of the wing box adapter section. 11. The wing arrangement according to claim 4 , wherein a local sweep of a trailing edge of the wing increases by at most approximately 20 degrees in an area of the wing box adapter section. 12. The wing arrangement according to claim 4 , wherein the outer end of the wing box base section as viewed from the wing root along with an inner end of the wing box adapter section adjacent thereto each comprises a connection device for coupling the wing box adapter section to the wing box base section. 13. The wing arrangement according to claim 12 , wherein a coupling device is designed in such a way that, in order to create the connection device, the outer rib of the wing box base section and an inner rib of the wing box adapter section each comprise one or more borehole, and that one or more connection element is disposed for securing the outer rib to the inner rib to couple the main wing box section with the wing box adapter section. 14. The wing arrangement according to claim 13 , wherein the coupling device is designed to be separated by destroying the one or more connection element. 15. The wing arrangement according to claim 13 , wherein the coupling device is designed to be separated without any destruction. 16. The wing arrangement according to claim 12 , wherein an inner rib of the wing box adapter section and the outer rib of the wing box base section are configured to positively intermesh and engage when secured to each other. 17.
