Opening claim text (preview).
What is claimed is: 1. An aluminum alloy consisting of: a non-zero quantity of scandium present at a concentration of at most about 0.1 at. %; a non-zero quantity of zirconium present at a concentration of at most about 0.1 at. %; a non-zero quantity of erbium present at a concentration of at most about 0.05 at. %; from 0 to about 0.1 at. % silicon; and aluminum forming substantially the balance of said aluminum alloy. 2. The aluminum alloy of claim 1 wherein iron is present in said aluminum alloy as an impurity. 3. The aluminum alloy of claim 1 wherein the content of silicon is at least about 0.02 at. %. 4. The aluminum alloy of claim 1 wherein: the content of erbium is at most about 0.04 at. %; and the content of silicon is 0 at. %. 5. The aluminum alloy of claim 1 wherein: the content of erbium is at most about 0.04 at. %; and the content of silicon is 0 at. %. 6. The aluminum alloy of claim 1 wherein: the content of scandium is at most about 0.08 at. %; the content of zirconium is at most about 0.08 at. %; the content of erbium is at most about 0.04 at. %; and the content of silicon is at most about 0.08 at. %. 7. The aluminum alloy of claim 1 wherein: the content of scandium is at most about 0.06 at. %; the content of zirconium is at most about 0.06 at. %; the content of erbium is at most about 0.02 at. %; and the content of silicon is at most about 0.04 at. %. 8. The aluminum alloy of claim 2 wherein the content of iron is at most about 0.0025 at. %.
