Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A method of moving a receiving window in a wireless mobile communication system, wherein the AM RLC of the transmitting side sends information of the last discarded SDU regardless of continuity of the discarded SDUs. The AM RLC of the receiving side checks whether all SDUs from the start point of the receiving window up to the last discarded SDU are successfully received, delivers the SDUs that are successfully received to an upper layer, and discard only those SDUs that are not successfully received.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for moving a receiving window in a radio communication system, the method comprising: receiving, by a receiving side, data units, from a transmitting side, wherein each of the data units has a sequence number; if a sequence number of each of the received data unit is within a range of the receiving window, updating, by the receiving side, a start value of the receiving window; receiving, by the receiving side, a move receiving window (MRW) command for moving the receiving window from the transmitting side, wherein the MRW command is transmitted by the transmitting side when previously transmitted data has been discarded; passing, by the receiving side, any successfully received data unit with a sequence number which is lower than a sequence number indicated by the MRW command, up to an upper layer; and in response to the MRW command, setting, by the receiving side, the start value of the receiving window to a next value of a sequence number that corresponds to a last data unit that was passed to the upper layer. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the MRW command includes information related to a first data unit for which an acknowledgment is expected. 3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: discarding any data unit with a sequence number that is lower than the sequence number indicated by the MRW command. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the successfully received data unit passed up to the upper later is passed in order of increasing value of the sequence number. 5. A receiving station for moving a receiving window in a radio communication system, the receiving station comprising: a transceiver; and a processor coupled to the transceiver and configured to: instruct the transceiver to receive data units, from a transmitting station, wherein each of the data units has a sequence number; if a sequence number of each of the received data unit is within a range of the receiving window, update a start value of the receiving window; receive a move receiving window (MRW) command for moving the receiving window from the transmitting station, wherein the MRW command is transmitted by the transmitting station when previously transmitted data has been discarded; pass any successfully received data unit with a sequence number which is lower than a sequence number indicated by the MRW command, up to an upper layer; and in response to the MRW command, set the start value of the receiving window to a next value of a sequence number that corresponds to a last data unit that was passed to the upper layer. 6. The receiving station of claim 5 , wherein the MRW command includes information related to a first data unit for which an acknowledgment is expected. 7. The receiving station of claim 5 , wherein the processor is configured to discard any data unit with a sequence number that is lower than the sequence number indicated by the MRW command. 8. The receiving station of claim 5 , wherein the successfully received data unit passed up to the upper later is passed in order of increasing value of the sequence number.
