Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A bicycle operating device mounting assembly is basically provided with a handlebar mounting clamp and an adapter member. The handlebar mounting clamp has a clamp opening that defines a first diameter. The adapter member includes a connecting portion and a projecting portion. The connecting portion is detachably disposed within the clamp opening. The projecting portion projects from the clamp opening. The connecting portion has a second diameter that is smaller than the first diameter. The connecting portion is configured to clamp a handlebar as the handlebar mounting clamp is tightened in a state that the connecting portion is disposed within the clamp opening.

What is claimed is: 1. A bicycle operating device mounting assembly comprising: a handlebar mounting clamp having a clamp opening that defines a first internal diameter; and an adapter member including a connecting portion being detachably disposed within the clamp opening and a projecting portion projecting from the clamp opening, the connecting portion having a second internal diameter that is smaller than the first internal diameter and configured to clamp a handlebar as the handlebar mounting clamp is tightened in a state that the connecting portion is disposed within the clamp opening, the connecting portion including a first part from which the projecting portion projects, the first part having a first semi-cylindrical part and a first fixing part, the first semi-cylindrical part having an overall semi-cylindrical shape that is arranged within the clamp opening, the first fixing part extending from the first semi-cylindrical part and having a first opening, a second part having a second semi-cylindrical part and a second fixing part, the second semi-cylindrical part having an overall semi-cylindrical shape that is separately formed from the first part and arranged within the clamp opening, the second fixing part extending from the second semi-cylindrical part and having a second opening, and the handlebar mounting clamp including a tightening bolt configured and arranged to tighten the handlebar mounting clamp, the tightening bolt passing through the first opening of the first fixing part and the second opening of the second fixing part. 2. The bicycle operating device mounting assembly according to claim 1 further comprising a first operating device mounted on the handlebar mounting clamp. 3. The bicycle operating device mounting assembly according to claim 2 , wherein the projecting portion has a mounting structure to mount a second operating device. 4. The bicycle operating device mounting assembly according to claim 3 , further comprising an additional projecting portion provided at the second part projecting from the clamp opening, the additional projecting portion having an additional mounting structure to mount a third operating device. 5. The bicycle operating device mounting assembly according to claim 4 , wherein the mounting structure includes a mounting opening, and the additional mounting structure includes an additional mounting opening. 6. The bicycle operating device mounting assembly according to claim 4 , wherein each of the first, second and third operating devices is selected from the group consisting of a brake operating device, a mechanical shifting device, an electrical shifting device, a suspension operating device and an adjustable seatpost operating device. 7. The bicycle operating device mounting assembly according to claim 3 , wherein the mounting structure includes a mounting opening. 8. The bicycle operating device mounting assembly according to claim 3 , wherein the mounting structure includes a threaded part. 9. The bicycle operating device mounting assembly according to claim 1 further comprising an additional projecting portion provided at the second part projecting from the clamp opening. 10. The bicycle operating device mounting assembly according to claim 1 further comprising a preventing structure configured to prevent relative movement between the handlebar mounting clamp and the connecting portion of the adapter. 11. The bicycle operating device mounting assembly according to claim 10 , wherein the preventing structure includes the tightening bolt, the first fixing part, and the second fixing part. 12. The bicycle operating device mounting assembly according to claim 10 , wherein the preventing structure includes one of a recess and a protrusion provided in the clamp opening and the other of the recess and the protrusion provided on the connecting portion so as to engage the one of the recess and the protrusion. 13. A bicycle operating device mounting assembly comprising: a handlebar mounting clamp having a clamp opening that defines a first internal diameter and a longitudinal center axis of the clamp opening, the longitudinal center axis being perpendicular to the first internal diameter; and an adapter member including a connecting portion being detachably disposed within the clamp opening and a projecting portion projecting from the clamp opening, the connecting portion having a second internal diameter that is smaller than the first internal diameter and configured to clamp a handlebar as the handlebar mounting clamp is tightened in a state that the connecting portion is disposed within the clamp opening, the connecting portion including a first part from which the projecting portion projects, the first part having a first semi-cylindrical part and a first fixing part, the first semi-cylindrical part having an overall semi-cylindrical shape that is arranged within the clamp opening, the first fixing part extending from the first semi-cylindrical part and having a first opening and a second part having a second semi-cylindrical part and a second fixing part, the second semi-cylindrical part having an overall semi-cylindrical shape that is separately formed from the first part and arranged within the clamp opening, the second fixing part extending from the second semi-cylindrical part and having a second opening, the projecting portion having a mounting structure to mount an operating device, the mounting structure including an elongated mounting opening, the mounting opening being configured and arranged to be elongated in a direction that is parallel to the longitudinal center axis of the clamp opening, and the handlebar mounting clamp including a tightening bolt configured and arranged to tighten the handlebar mounting clamp, the tightening bolt passing through the first opening of the first fixing part and the second opening of the second fixing part. 14. An adapter member for a bicycle operating device mounting assembly comprising: a connecting portion configured to be detachably disposed within a clamp opening of a handlebar mounting clamp of the bicycle device mounting assembly; and a projecting portion projecting from the connecting portion, the connecting portion having a second internal diameter that is smaller than a first internal diameter of the clamp opening and configured to clamp a handlebar as the handlebar mounting clamp is tightened in a state that the connecting portion is disposed within the clamp opening, the connecting portion including a first part from which the projecting portion projects, the first part having a first semi-cylindrical part and a first fixing part, the first semi-cylindrical part having an overall semi-cylindrical shape that is configured to be arranged within the clamp opening, the first fixing part extending from the first semi-cylindrical part and having a first opening, and a second part having a second semi-cylindrical part and a second fixing part, the second semi-cylindrical part having an overall semi-cylindrical shape that is separately formed from the first part and configured to be arranged within the clamp opening, the second fixing part extending from the second semi-cylindrical part and having a second opening, and the first opening of the first fixing part and the second opening of the second fixing part being arranged and configured for a tightening bolt of the handlebar mounting clamp to pass there-through.
