The present invention relates to the novel flavor and fragrance use of 2,6-dipropyl-5,6-dihydro-2H-thiopyran-3-carbaldehyde.

What is claimed is: 1. A flavor composition comprising an olfactory acceptable amount of 2,6-dipropyl-5,6-dihydro-2H-thiopyran-3-carbaldehyde, wherein the olfactory acceptable amount is from about 1 part per billion to about 1000 parts per million by weight. 2. The flavor composition of claim 1 , wherein the olfactory acceptable amount is from about 10 parts per billion to about 100 parts per million by weight. 3. The flavor composition of claim 1 , wherein the olfactory acceptable amount is from about 100 parts per billion to about 10 parts per million by weight. 4. A fragrance composition comprising an olfactory acceptable amount of 2,6-dipropyl-5,6-dihydro-2H-thiopyran-3-carbaldehyde, wherein the olfactory acceptable amount is from about 1 part per billion to about 1000 parts per million by weight. 5. The fragrance composition of claim 4 , wherein the olfactory acceptable amount is from about 10 parts per billion to about 100 parts per million by weight. 6. The fragrance composition of claim 4 , wherein the olfactory acceptable amount is from about 100 parts per billion to about 10 parts per million by weight.
