Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A house monitoring system includes at least one sensor that detects a predetermined event, a master device that communicates with the sensor, and is connected to a fixed telephone network so as to perform calls to other fixed telephones, and a mobile phone terminal that includes a display/input unit, performs wireless communication with the master device by using a wireless router, and is connected to other mobile phones via a mobile phone network. When the sensor detects the predetermined event, the master device transmits information regarding the sensor having detected the predetermined event to the mobile phone terminal, and the mobile phone terminal displays the information regarding the sensor having detected the predetermined event transmitted from the master device on the display/input unit.

What is claimed is: 1. A home monitoring system comprising: at least one sensor coupled to a DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) compliant communicator and configured to detect a defined event; a DECT master device that, in operation, performs wireless communication with the at last one sensor according to a DECT communications protocol, performs wireless communication with one or more DECT cordless handsets according to the DECT communications protocol, and is connected to a fixed telephone network to communicate with other fixed telephones; and at least one camera including an imager and a communicator, which, in operation, transmits image data captured by the imager to the DECT master device, wherein the DECT master device, when receiving a detection signal from the at least one sensor having detected the defined event, transmits information regarding the at least one sensor, via a wireless LAN router, to a smartphone to display the information regarding the at least one sensor on the smartphone, wherein the smartphone is connectable to a mobile phone network to communicate with other mobile telephones, the DECT master device, when receiving, via the wireless LAN router, signal indicative of a first operation on the smartphone, forwards the image data received from the at least one camera to the smartphone for display on the smartphone, and the DECT master device, when receiving the detection signal from the at least one sensor having detected the defined event, transmits a display interrupt instruction via the wireless LAN router to the smartphone to display the information regarding the at least one sensor with a higher priority over the image data from the at least one camera. 2. The home monitoring system of claim 1 , which comprises at least one notification destination device communicable with the DECT master device, wherein the DECT master device includes a storage configured to store a notification destination list, in which the at least one sensor is correlated with the at least one notification destination device, the DECT master device, in operation, transmits an event detection notification audio indicative of that the at least one sensor has detected the defined event, a defined number of times, to the at least one notification destination device that is correlated with the at least one sensor having detected the defined event, and the at least one notification destination device outputs the event detection notification audio the defined number of times. 3. The home monitoring system of claim 2 , wherein the at least one notification destination device is a DECT cordless handset. 4. The home monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the communicator of the at least one camera is a DECT compliant communicator. 5. The home monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the DECT master device, when receiving, via the wireless LAN router, signal indicative of a second operation to update the information regarding the at least one sensor as displayed on the smartphone, transmits an image request to the at least one camera associated with the at least one sensor having detected the defined event, and the at least one camera, in response to the image request from the DECT master device, transmits the image data captured by the imager to the DECT master device, and the DECT master device, in operation, forwards the image data received from the at least one camera to the smartphone for display on the smartphone. 6. The home monitoring system of claim 5 , wherein the first operation on the smartphone is a tap operation on the smartphone, and the second operation is a tap operation on the information regarding the at least one sensor as displayed on the smartphone. 7. The home monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one sensor is an infrared sensor. 8. The home monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one sensor is selected from a group consisting of a human sensor, a smoke sensor, an opening/closing sensor, a temperature sensor, and a smart plug. 9. The home monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one sensor is an opening/closing sensor coupled to a window or door, the defined event is opening of the window or door, and the information regarding the at least one sensor displayed on the smartphone is a name or location of the opened window or door as detected by the opening/closing sensor. 10. The home monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one sensor is a smoke sensor, the defined event is detection of smoke, and the information regarding the at least one sensor displayed on the smartphone is a name or location of the smoke sensor. 11. The home monitoring system of claim 1 , which comprises a plurality of sensors configured to defect a plurality of defined events, respectively, and to communicate with the DECT master device according to the DECT communication protocol, wherein the DECT master device, when receiving a plurality of detection signals from the plurality of sensors having detected the plurality of defined events, respectively, transmits plural pieces of information regarding the plurality of sensors, via the wireless LAN router, to the smartphone to display the plural pieces of information regarding the plurality of sensors on the smartphone. 12. A home monitoring method based on a home monitoring system, the home monitoring system comprising: (a) at least one sensor coupled to a DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) compliant communicator and configured to detect a defined event; (b) a DECT master device that, in operation, performs wireless communication with the at last one sensor according to a DECT communications protocol, performs wireless communication with one or more DECT cordless handsets according to the DECT communications protocol, and is connected to a fixed telephone network to communicate with other fixed telephones; and (c) at least one camera including an imager, the home monitoring method comprising: receiving, at the DECT master device, a detection signal from the at least one sensor having detected the defined event, transmitting, from the DECT master device that has received the detection signal, information regarding the at least one sensor, via a wireless LAN router, to a smartphone to display the information regarding the at least one sensor on the smartphone, wherein the smartphone is connectable to a mobile phone network to communicate with other mobile telephones; receiving, at the DECT master device, image data captured by the imager from the at least one camera; forwarding, from the DECT master device that has received, via the wireless LAN router, signal indicative of a first operation on the smartphone, the image data received from the at least one camera to the smartphone for display on the smartphone, and transmitting, from the DECT master device that has received the detection signal from the at least one sensor having detected the defined event, a display interrupt instruction via the wireless LAN router to the smartphone to display the information regarding the at least one sensor with a higher priority over the image data from the at least one camera. 13.
