An adjustable screwdriver for selectively driving an adjustable compression screw into a substrate. A distal tip of a adjustable head driver is configured to engage an adjustable head of an adjustable compression screw. A shaft driver is concentrically disposed in the adjustable head driver. A distal tip of the shaft driver is configured to engage the head of the screw shaft of the adjustable compression screw for use in rotating the screw shaft. The shaft driver is configured to selectively lock in an even driving position, in which the adjustable head driver and the shaft driver cooperatively drive the adjustable head and the screw shaft. The shaft driver is configured to selectively lock in a retracted driving position wherein the distal tip of the shaft driver is recessed in the adjustable head driver to thereby drive the adjustable head without the shaft driver driving the screw shaft.

What is claimed is: 1. An adjustable screwdriver for selectively driving an adjustable compression screw into a substrate, the adjustable compression screw having a screw shaft and a separate adjustable head threaded on a head of the screw shaft, comprising: a handle, an adjustable head driver extending distally from said handle, a distal tip of said adjustable head driver configured to engage the adjustable head of the adjustable compression screw for use in rotating the adjustable head of the adjustable compression screw, a shaft driver concentrically disposed in said adjustable head driver, said shaft driver fixed in said handle, a distal tip of said shaft driver configured to engage the head of the screw shaft of the adjustable compression screw for use in rotating the screw shaft, said shaft driver configured to selectively lock in an even driving position wherein said distal tip of said shaft driver is substantially even with said distal tip of said adjustable head driver to thereby allow said adjustable head driver and said shaft driver to cooperatively drive the adjustable head and the screw shaft, and said shaft driver configured to selectively lock in a retracted driving position wherein said distal tip of said shaft driver is recessed in said adjustable head driver to thereby allow said adjustable head driver to drive the adjustable head without said shaft driver driving the screw shaft. 2. The adjustable screwdriver of claim 1 , wherein said shaft driver is normally spring-biased in said retracted driving position. 3. The adjustable screwdriver of claim 1 , wherein said shaft driver selectively locks in said even driving position via a lock button, said lock button passing through said adjustable head driver, said lock button having a locking member thereon for engaging an even recess on said shaft driver. 4. The adjustable screwdriver of claim 1 , wherein said shaft driver is fixed in said handle via a release pin, said release pin actuatable from an outer surface of said handle to thereby selectively release said shaft driver from said adjustable screw driver. 5. The adjustable screwdriver of claim 1 , further comprising said shaft driver configured to selectively lock in an extended driving position wherein said distal tip of said shaft driver extends distally from said distal tip of said adjustable head driver to thereby allow said shaft driver to drive the screw shaft without said adjustable head driver driving the adjustable head.
