When completion of timer charge before elapse of a designated time is designated by a timer charge reservation means for allowing a user to designate a predetermined charge time zone and a target amount of electric power to be charged to the battery, a timer charge start time is determined. Upon carrying out the timer charge, when it is predicted that the timer charge and battery heating are simultaneously carried out, a required amount of extension of a charge time period is determined so as to complete charge of the battery by the designated time, and starts charge of the battery at a time advanced relative to the timer charge start time by the required amount of extension of a charge time period. With this control, charge of the battery can be completed at a predetermined time without unnecessary enhancement in a required capacity of a battery heater.

The invention claimed is: 1. A charge control apparatus for a vehicle, comprising; an electrically chargeable and dischargeable battery; a battery heater that heats the battery; a battery temperature detecting section configured to detect a temperature of the battery; a battery control section configured to monitor the temperature of the battery and controlling the battery heater so as to heat the battery; a battery charger that supplies electric power to the battery and the battery heater; a timer charge reservation section configured to allow a user to designate a predetermined charge time zone and a target amount of electric power to be charged to the battery; and a charge control section configured to determine a timer charge start time and carrying out timer charge when completion of the timer charge before elapse of a designated time is designated by the timer charge reservation section, wherein when the charge control section predicts that the timer charge and battery heating are simultaneously carried out, the charge control section determines a required amount of extension of a charge time period so as to complete charge of the battery before elapse of the designated time, and starts charge of the battery at a time advanced relative to the timer charge start time by the required amount of extension of a charge time period. 2. The charge control apparatus for a vehicle as claimed in claim 1 , wherein in a case where the battery heating is carried out at a time advanced relative to the timer charge start time by a predetermined time period, the charge control section judges that the timer charge and the battery heating are simultaneously carried out. 3. The charge control apparatus for a vehicle as claimed in claim 1 , wherein in a case where the temperature of the battery is not higher than a predetermined value at a time advanced relative to the timer charge start time by a predetermined time period, the charge control section judges that the timer charge and the battery heating are simultaneously carried out. 4. The charge control apparatus for a vehicle as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising an ambient temperature detecting section configured to detect an ambient temperature, wherein at a time advanced relative to the timer charge start time by a predetermined time period, the charge control section predicts transition of the battery temperature in the timer charge time zone from an operating state of the battery heater, the temperature of the battery, and the ambient temperature at the time advanced, and in a case where the charge control section predicts that the predicted temperature of the battery is within a preset range of operating temperature of the battery heater, the charge control section judges that the timer charge and the battery heating are simultaneously carried out. 5. The charge control apparatus for a vehicle as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the charge control section predicts and computes an operating time of the battery heater and a consumed electric power of the battery heater in the timer charge time zone on the basis of the predicted temperature of the battery, and determines the required amount of extension of a charge time period. 6. A charge control apparatus for a vehicle, comprising; an electrically chargeable and dischargeable battery; a battery heater that heats the battery; and a battery charger that supplies electric power to the battery and the battery heater, wherein the charge control apparatus detects a temperature of the battery, wherein the charge control apparatus monitors the temperature of the battery and controlling the battery heater so as to heat the battery; wherein the charge control apparatus allows a user to designate a predetermined charge time zone and a target amount of electric power to be charged to the battery; and wherein the charge control apparatus determines a timer charge start time and carrying out timer charge when completion of the timer charge before elapse of a designated time is designated, and wherein when the charge control apparatus predicts that the timer charge and battery heating arc simultaneously carried out, the charge control apparatus determines a required amount of extension of a charge time period so as to complete charge of the battery before elapse of the designated time, and starts charge of the battery at a time advanced relative to the timer charge start time by the required amount of extension of a charge time period.
