Official abstract text for this publication.
A modular building system arrangement includes a plurality of electrical building systems. Each electrical building system has a housing with a mechanical connector that is connectable with a like connector of each other building system housing. Members of any subset of the building system housings are connectable with each other to form a building system assembly. The building systems of the building system assembly conjointly define an electrically conductive pathway interconnecting each of the building systems of the building system assembly. The pathway carries power and/or data.

What is claimed is: 1. A modular and reconfigurable security system arrangement, the system arrangement comprising: a base configured to mount to a fixed structure of a building; a first security system for performing an intrusion detection function; a second security system for performing a second function different than the intrusion detection function; and an electrical end cap, wherein: the base, the first security system, the second security system and the electrical end cap are configured to mechanically connect to each other in different combinations to form a plurality of different arrangements along an axis, each combination includes an electrical connection between the first security system, the second security system, and the electrical end cap to provide one or more electrically conductive pathways, and wherein the electrical connection includes a first surface and a second surface, the first surface having at least one male electrical connector, the second surface having at least one female electrical connector connected to the at least one male electrical connector. 2. The modular and reconfigurable security system arrangement of claim 1 , wherein each combination includes at least one subset of the base, the first security system, the second security system, and the electrical end cap. 3. The modular and reconfigurable security system arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the intrusion detection function includes at least one selected from the group consisting of a microphone function, a motion detection function, a burglar alarm function, and a video function, and wherein the second function includes at least one selected from the group consisting of a fire alarm function, an intercom function, a music function, and a lighting function. 4. The modular and reconfigurable security system arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the first security system, the second security system, and the electrical end cap are configured to mechanically connect by rotating relative to each other about the axis. 5. The modular and reconfigurable security system arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the at least one female electrical connector is L-shaped and includes a first leg and a second leg, the second leg including a substantially V-shaped notch. 6. The modular and reconfigurable security system arrangement of claim 5 , wherein the substantially V-shaped notch opens in a circumferential direction. 7. A modular and reconfigurable security system arrangement, the system arrangement comprising: a base having an upper mounting surface and a lower connecting surface, the upper mounting surface configured to be mounted to a fixed structure of a building, the lower connecting surface having at least one first lower electrical connector; and a plurality of security systems, each of the security systems including an upper surface and a lower surface, the upper surface having at least one upper electrical connector, the lower surface having at least one second lower electrical connector electrically connected to the at least one upper electrical connector, each of the at least one said upper electrical connectors configured to be electrically connected with the at least one first lower electrical connector of the base and with the at least one second lower electrical connector of each of the other security systems, wherein any subset of the security systems is configured to be connected with each other in any order to form a security system assembly, the security systems being aligned along an axis, each of the security systems including an upper surface with a first mechanical connector and a lower surface with a second mechanical connector, the security systems configured to be connected with each other by rotating adjacent security systems relative to each other about the axis such that a respective said first mechanical connector and a respective said second mechanical connector on said adjacent security systems become mechanically connected, and the at least one upper electrical connector is configured to be connected to the at least one lower electrical connector, wherein the at least one upper electrical connector and the at least one lower electrical connector are moved into an electrical connection with each other in circumferential directions by rotating adjacent security systems relative to each other about the axis. 8. The system arrangement of claim 7 , further comprising: an end cap module configured to be connected to a distal one of the security systems such that the at least one second lower electrical connector of the distal security system is substantially covered by the end cap module, wherein the end cap module includes an electrical end cap module electrically connected to the at least one second lower electrical connector of the distal security system. 9. The system arrangement of claim 8 , wherein the electrical end cap module includes a surveillance camera, the system arrangement further includes a covert liner configured to cover and connect to the surveillance camera. 10.
