Bone implant compositions and methods are provide that have an outer surface, the outer surface comprising demineralized bone and having a cavity disposed in the outer surface, the cavity having a demineralized bone material coated therein; and an inner surface of the bone implant comprising cortical bone, the inner surface contacting the outer surface. The bone implant compositions and methods provided are osteoinductive and allow rapid bone fusion.

What is claimed is: 1. A bone implant comprising an outer surface, the outer surface having a cavity disposed in the outer surface, the cavity having a coating comprising demineralized bone matrix material disposed therein, the demineralized bone matrix material comprising from about 1% to about 30% by weight of the implant; and an inner surface of the bone implant comprising cortical bone, the inner surface contacting the outer surface, and the demineralized bone matrix material comprises demineralized bone matrix fibers and demineralized bone matrix chips in a ratio of 25:75 to 75:25, and the coating has a thickness from about 5 microns to about 250 microns, and the cavity comprises channels that extend longitudinally in the outer surface that are linear and parallel to each other. 2. A bone implant according to claim 1 , wherein the cavity comprises (i) a coating of demineralized matrix material disposed therein; (ii) demineralized bone powder or demineralized bone fibers as the demineralized bone matrix material; or (iii) a solid demineralized plug or insert disposed in the cavity. 3. A bone implant according to claim 2 , wherein (i) the bone implant comprises a plurality of cavities, wherein each cavity comprises a shape that is triangular, pyramidal, square, rectangular, pentagonal, hexagonal, heptagonal, octagonal, U-shaped, V-shaped, W-shaped, concave, crescent, or a combination thereof; or (ii) the solid demineralized plug or insert is pressed fit into the cavity. 4. A bone implant according to claim 2 , wherein the cavity is partially filled with demineralized bone powder, demineralized bone fibers, demineralized bone plugs, or demineralized bone inserts. 5. A bone implant according to claim 1 , wherein the cavity comprises side walls and a bottom, each of which is surface demineralized and the outer surface comprises surface demineralized bone matrix material. 6. A bone implant according to claim 1 , wherein the outer surface comprises a demineralized bone region and the channels are evenly or randomly disposed across the demineralized bone region. 7. A bone implant according to claim 6 , wherein (i) a depth of the demineralized region varies along the outer surface; (ii) the outer surface of the bone implant is selectively demineralized so as to avoid subsidence when the bone implant is implanted into a host bone of a patient; or (iii) the demineralized bone used to coat the demineralized region binds to the demineralized region by air drying, freeze drying, heat drying, or by using a chemical cross-linking agent. 8. A bone implant according to claim 1 , wherein the bone implant comprises allograft bone that is in the form of a ring. 9. A bone implant according to claim 1 , wherein the bone implant comprises at least one bioactive agent comprising bone morphogenetic protein (BMP), growth differentiation factor (GDF), LIM Mineralization Protein (LMP), TP508 (an angiogeneic tissue repair peptide), bone marrow aspirate, concentrated bone marrow aspirate, mesenchymal cells, antibiotics, anti-infective compositions, analgesic agents, anti-inflammatory agents, or combinations thereof. 10. A bone implant according to claim 1 , wherein the demineralized bone matrix material comprises from about 22% to about 30% by weight of the implant. 11. An allograft comprising an outer surface, the outer surface comprising a demineralized bone matrix material and having a cavity disposed in the outer surface, the demineralized bone matrix material comprising from about 1% to about 30% by weight of the implant, the cavity having a coating comprising demineralized bone matrix material disposed therein; and an inner surface of the allograft comprising cortical bone, the inner surface contacting the outer surface and the cavity providing a passageway to the inner surface, and the demineralized bone matrix material comprises demineralized bone matrix fibers and demineralized bone matrix chips in a ratio of 25:75 to 75:25, and the coating has a thickness from about 5 microns to about 250 microns, and the cavity comprises channels that extend longitudinally in the outer surface that are linear and parallel to each other. 12. An allograft according to claim 11 , wherein the cavity comprises side walls and a bottom, each of which is surface demineralized. 13. An allograft according to claim 11 , wherein (i) the allograft comprises a plurality of cavities, wherein each cavity comprises a shape that is triangular, pyramidal, square, rectangular, pentagonal, hexagonal, heptagonal, octagonal, U-shaped, V-shaped, W-shaped, concave, crescent, or a combination thereof; or (ii) a demineralized plug or insert is pressed fit into the cavity. 14. An allograft according to claim 11 , wherein the cavity is completely filled with demineralized bone powder, demineralized bone fibers, a demineralized plug, or a demineralized insert.
