A method for providing abduction and adduction adjustment in a hip orthosis, comprises the steps of: providing a hip orthosis having a hip plate with a pad, and a first strut coupling at a hinge to a second strut received by the hip plate; providing the first strut with an anatomical curvature; providing an intermediate shell carrying a pad slidably engages and engaging the first strut; biasing the intermediate shell by the curvature inwardly toward a user; and adjusting an angle between first and second parts of the hinge in a variety of angles, the first and second parts connecting to the first and second struts, respectively.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method for providing abduction and adduction adjustment in a hip orthosis, comprising the steps of: providing a hip orthosis having a hip plate with a pad, and a first strut coupling at a hinge to a second strut received by the hip plate; providing the first strut with an anatomical curvature; providing an intermediate shell carrying a pad slidably engages and engaging the first strut; biasing the intermediate shell by the curvature inwardly toward a user. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the hinge includes a first part hingedly attached to a second part by a cylinder extending through the first and second parts, the first and second struts securing to the first and second parts, respectively. 3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising the step of tightening the cylinder for maintaining the first and second parts in a relative position for adjusting abduction control of the hip orthosis. 4. The method of claim 3 , wherein indicia are provided on the cylinder by indicating the relative articulation of the first part relative to the second part. 5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising the step of referring to indicia on the hinge to determine an indication of adduction and abduction. 6. The method of claim 2 , wherein the hinge includes an adjustable element extending through the second part to regulate an angle of the first part relative to the second part. 7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the adjustable element includes a traction feature for accommodating a tool for rotating the adjustable element. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the hip plate includes a cover encasing a portion of the second strut; the method further comprising the step of sliding the portion of the second strut within the hip plate between flexion and extension positions selectively delimited by range of motions stops. 9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising the step of securing the range of motion stops into any one of a plurality of flexion stop slots among a plurality of degree settings. 10. The method of claim 8 , further comprising the step of securing the range of motion stops into any one of a plurality of extension stop slots among a plurality of degree settings. 11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the hinge is arranged for adjustable abduction in a predetermined range of angles in predefined increments, and includes a plurality of indications corresponding thereto. 12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the intermediate shell defines a sleeve along which the first strut slidingly engages in a close fitting relationship. 13. The method of claim 12 , further comprising the step of adjusting the location of the intermediate shell along a length of the first strut. 14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the intermediate shell includes rib portions having an arcuate profile arranged for delimiting flexible portions on opposed sides of the first strut. 15. The method of claim 1 , wherein the hip orthosis includes a thigh cuff secured to an end of the first strut, and a strap connected to the thigh cuff. 16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the thigh cuff having a plurality of living hinges enabling the thigh cuff to better contour to the leg of a user. 17. A method for providing abduction and adduction adjustment in a hip orthosis, comprising the steps of: providing a hip orthosis having a hip plate, and a first strut coupling at a hinge to a second strut received by the hip plate; providing an intermediate shell carrying a pad slidably engages and engaging the first strut; referring to indicia on the hinge to determine an indication of adduction and abduction; wherein the hinge includes a first part hingedly attached to a second part by a cylinder extending through the first and second parts, the first and second struts securing to the first and second parts, respectively; further comprising the step of tightening the cylinder for maintaining the first and second parts in a relative position for adjusting abduction control of the hip orthosis. 18. A method for providing abduction and adduction adjustment in a hip orthosis, comprising the steps of: providing a hip orthosis having a hip plate, and a first strut coupling at a hinge to a second strut received by the hip plate; providing an intermediate shell carrying a pad slidably engages and engaging the first strut; adjusting an angle between first and second parts of the hinge in a variety of angles, the first and second parts connecting to the first and second struts, respectively. 19. The method of claim 18 , wherein the hinge is arranged for adjustable abduction in a predetermined range of angles in predefined increments, and includes a plurality of indications corresponding thereto. 20. The method of claim 18 , wherein the hip plate includes a cover encasing a portion of the second strut; the method further comprising the step of sliding the portion of the second strut within the hip plate between flexion and extension positions selectively delimited by range of motions stops.
