What is claimed is: 1. A fiber optic assembly comprising: a spool including first and second flanges and a drum portion positioned axially between the first and second flanges, the drum portion having an exterior surface; a fiber optic cable arranged in a coil around the drum portion and contained between the first and second flanges, the fiber optic cable having a first end and a second end; a terminal device including an environmentally sealed terminal housing that defines an enclosed interior, the terminal device also including a plurality of ruggedized fiber optic adapters carried with the terminal housing, each one of the plurality of ruggedized fiber optic adapters including an exterior adapter port accessible from outside the terminal housing and an interior adapter port inside the terminal housing; the fiber optic cable including a plurality of optical fibers separated at the second end of the fiber optic cable, at least some of the separate optical fibers having connectorized ends, the connectorized ends of the separate optical fibers being plugged into respective ones of the interior adapter ports of the plurality of ruggedized fiber optic adapters within the enclosed interior of the terminal housing; wherein the spool rotates about a central spool axis when the fiber optic cable is dispensed from the spool, and wherein the terminal housing is carried with the spool such that when the fiber optic distribution cable is dispensed from the spool, the spool and the terminal housing rotate in unison with one another. 2. The fiber optic assembly of claim 1 , wherein a fanout is provided within the terminal housing for separating the plurality of optical fibers. 3. The fiber optic assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first end of the fiber optic cable has a multi-fiber connector. 4. The fiber optic assembly of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of optical fibers are separated at the second end of the fiber optic cable within the enclosed interior of the terminal housing. 5. The fiber optic assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first flange of the spool includes a cutout. 6. The fiber optic assembly of claim 1 , wherein the terminal housing includes front and back housing pieces, and wherein a sealing member is disposed between the front and back housing pieces of the terminal housing. 7. The fiber optic assembly of claim 1 , wherein the coil includes and inner side positioned at the exterior surface of the drum portion that faces radially toward the central spool axis and an outer side that faces radially outwardly from the central spool axis, and wherein the first end of the fiber optic cable is positioned at the outer side of the coil. 8. The fiber optic assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a bulk storage spool mounted to the spool, wherein the bulk storage spool is removable. 9. The fiber optic assembly of claim 8 , wherein the bulk storage spool has a diameter that is substantially larger than a diameter of the spool. 10. The fiber optic assembly of claim 9 , wherein the spool and the bulk storage spool rotate in unison when the fiber optic cable is dispensed from the fiber optic drop terminal assembly. 11. The fiber optic assembly of claim 1 , wherein a central passage extends axially through the spool, the central passage being configured to receive a mandrel about which the terminal housing and the spool rotate in unison when the fiber optic cable is dispensed from the spool. 12. The fiber optic assembly of claim 11 , wherein the first flange of the spool defines a cable transition notch through which the fiber optic cable extends. 13. The fiber optic assembly of claim 12 , wherein a bottom end of the cable transition notch is generally flush with the exterior surface of the drum portion of the spool. 14. The fiber optic assembly of claim 1 , wherein the central spool axis extends axially through the drum portion of the spool. 15. A fiber optic assembly comprising: a spool including first and second flanges and a drum portion positioned axially between the first and second flanges, the drum portion having an exterior surface; a fiber optic cable arranged in a coil around the drum portion and contained between the first and second flanges, the fiber optic cable having a first end and a second end; a terminal device including a terminal housing that defines an enclosed interior, the terminal device also including a plurality of ruggedized fiber optic adapters carried with the terminal housing, each one of the plurality of ruggedized fiber optic adapters including an exterior ruggedized adapter port accessible from outside the terminal housing for receiving a ruggedized fiber optic connector and an interior adapter port inside the terminal housing, the terminal housing including a front piece and a rear piece, the front piece of the terminal housing defining a plurality of openings at which the fiber optic adapters are mounted, the terminal device also including a seal positioned between the front and rear pieces of the terminal housing; the fiber optic cable including a plurality of optical fibers separated at the second end of the fiber optic cable, at least some of the separate optical fibers having connectorized ends, the connectorized ends of the separate optical fibers being plugged into respective ones of the interior adapter ports of the plurality of ruggedized fiber optic adapters within the enclosed interior of the terminal housing; wherein the spool rotates about a central spool axis when the fiber optic cable is dispensed from the spool, and wherein the terminal housing is carried with the spool such that when the fiber optic distribution cable is dispensed from the spool, the spool and the terminal housing rotate in unison with one another. 16. The fiber optic assembly of claim 15 , wherein the front piece of the terminal housing includes a plurality of front steps, and wherein the fiber optic adapters are mounted on the steps.
