What is claimed is: 1. A fusion polypeptide comprising, in order from N-terminus to C-terminus, a polypeptide comprising the sequence of amino acids 34 to 982 of SEQ ID NO: 19; one or more linkers; and a polypeptide comprising the sequence of amino acids 1000 to 1228 of SEQ ID NO: 19, wherein the fusion polypeptide is capable of activating Egr-1. 2. The fusion polypeptide of claim 1 , further comprising a signal peptide. 3. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the fusion polypeptide of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. 4. The fusion polypeptide of claim 1 , wherein the one or more linkers comprise one or more polypeptide linkers. 5. A nucleic acid comprising a sequence that encodes a fusion polypeptide comprising, in order from N-terminus to C-terminus, a polypeptide comprising the sequence of amino acids 34 to 982 of SEQ ID NO: 19; one or more linkers; and a polypeptide comprising the sequence of amino acids 1000 to 1228 of SEQ ID NO: 19, wherein the fusion polypeptide is capable of activating Egr-1. 6. A host cell containing the nucleic acid of claim 5 . 7. A vector comprising the nucleic acid of claim 5 . 8. A fusion polypeptide comprising, in order from N-terminus to C-terminus, a polypeptide consisting of the sequence of amino acids 34 to 982 of SEQ ID NO: 19; one or more linkers; and a polypeptide consisting of the sequence of amino acids 1000 to 1228 of SEQ ID NO: 19, wherein the fusion polypeptide is capable of activating Egr-1. 9. The fusion polypeptide of claim 8 , wherein the one or more linkers comprise one or more polypeptide linkers. 10. The fusion polypeptide of claim 8 , further comprising a signal peptide. 11. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the fusion polypeptide of claim 8 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
