Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

In one embodiment, a method includes accessing a social graph of a social-networking system, and determining, from the social graph, that a user “likes” a first page associated with a particular version of a media content. The social graph includes a plurality of nodes and edges connecting the nodes. The nodes include user nodes that are each associated with a particular user of the social-networking system. The method further includes determining that one or more other versions of the media content exist, determining that a main page is associated with the particular version and the one or more other versions of the media content, and aggregating the user's “like” of the first page to the main page. Each of the one or more other versions of the media content has one or more associated pages.

What is claimed is: 1. A method comprising: by one or more computers of a social-networking system, accessing a social graph of the social-networking system, the social graph comprising a plurality of nodes and edges connecting the nodes, the nodes comprising user nodes that are each associated with a particular user of the social-networking system; by the one or more computers of the social-networking system, determining, from the social graph, that a user “likes” a first page associated with a particular version of a media content; by the one or more computers of the social-networking system, determining that one or more other versions of the media content exist, wherein each of the one or more other versions of the media content has one or more associated pages; by the one or more computers of the social-networking system, determining that a main page is associated with the particular version and the one or more other versions of the media content; and by the one or more computers of the social-networking system, aggregating the user's “like” of the first page to the main page. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein determining that the main page is associated with the particular version and the one or more other versions of the media content comprises: determining a number of “likes” for each of the first page and the one or more associated pages; and assigning a page having a highest number of “likes” as the main page. 3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, by the one or more computers of the social-networking system: determining that the user “likes” more than one page associated with the media content; and removing all “likes” of the user associated with each page except the main page. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the media content comprises one or more of: media content from a set-top box (STB); media content from a digital video recorder (DVR); media content from an over-the-top (OTT) content provider; media content from a multiple system operator (MSO); pay-per-view media content; and on-demand media content. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the particular version and the one or more other versions comprise one or more of: an episode of a show; a season of the show; a series of the show; and a movie. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the main page is a Wikipedia page associated with the media content. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the “like” comprises an indication that the user likes the media content. 8. A system comprising: one or more memory devices; and a processor communicatively coupled to the one or more memory devices, the processor operable to: access a social graph of a social-networking system, the social graph comprising a plurality of nodes and edges connecting the nodes, the nodes comprising user nodes that are each associated with a particular user of the social-networking system; determine, from the social graph, that a user “likes” a first page associated with a particular version of a media content; determine that one or more other versions of the media content exist, wherein each of the one or more other versions of the media content has one or more associated pages; determine that a main page is associated with the particular version and the one or more other versions of the media content; and aggregate the user's “like” of the first page to the main page. 9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further operable to determine that the main page is associated with the particular version and the one or more other versions of the media content by: determining a number of “likes” for each of the first page and the one or more associated pages; and assigning a page having a highest number of “likes” as the main page. 10. The system of claim 8 , the processor further operable to: determine that the user “likes” more than one page associated with the media content; and remove all “likes” of the user associated with each page but the main page. 11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the media content comprises one or more of: media content from a set-top box (STB); media content from a digital video recorder (DVR); media content from an over-the-top (OTT) content provider; media content from a multiple system operator (MSO); pay-per-view media content; and on-demand media content. 12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the particular version and the one or more other versions comprise one or more of: an episode of a show; a season of the show; a series of the show; and a movie. 13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the “like” comprises an indication that the user likes the media content. 14. One or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media in one or more computing systems, the media embodying logic that is operable when executed to: access a social graph of a social-networking system, the social graph comprising a plurality of nodes and edges connecting the nodes, the nodes comprising user nodes that are each associated with a particular user of the social-networking system; determine, from the social graph, that a user “likes” a first page associated with a particular version of a media content; determine that one or more other versions of the media content exist, wherein each of the one or more other versions of the media content has one or more associated pages; determine that a main page is associated with the particular version and the one or more other versions of the media content; and aggregate the user's “like” of the first page to the main page. 15. The media of claim 14 , wherein the logic is further operable to determine that the main page is associated with the particular version and the one or more other versions of the media content by: determining a number of “likes” for each of the first page and the one or more associated pages; and assigning a page having a highest number of “likes” as the main page. 16. The media of claim 14 , the logic further operable to: determine that the user “likes” more than one page associated with the media content; and remove all “likes” of the user associated with each page but the main page. 17. The media of claim 14 , wherein the video content comprises one or more of: media content from a set-top box (STB); media content from a digital video recorder (DVR); media content from an over-the-top (OTT) content provider; media content from a multiple system operator (MSO); pay-per-view media content; and on-demand media content. 18. The media of claim 14 , wherein the particular version and the one or more other versions comprise one or more of: an episode of a show; a season of the show; a series of the show; and a movie. 19. The media of claim 14 , wherein the main page is a Wikipedia page associated with the media content. 20. The media of claim 14 , wherein the “like” comprises an indication that the user likes the media content.
