The invention claimed is: 1. A wafer adapted for use with an ostomy appliance, the wafer comprising: a backing layer; an adhesive layer applied to the backing layer and providing an adhesive surface; and a liner system disposed over an entirety of the adhesive surface; wherein the adhesive surface includes a middle portion and the liner system includes a first side liner placed on a first lateral side of the middle portion of the adhesive surface, a second side liner placed on a second lateral side of the middle portion of the adhesive surface, and a third middle liner having folded edge portions and covering the middle portion of the adhesive surface. 2. The wafer of claim 1 , wherein the first side liner and the second side liner do not cover the middle portion of the adhesive surface. 3. The wafer of claim 1 , wherein one of the first side liner and the second side liner is folded to provide a folded side liner. 4. The wafer of claim 1 , wherein the first side liner is folded and the second side liner is folded to provide two folded side liners. 5. The wafer of claim 1 , wherein the wafer has a tensile strength at 20% strain of less than 0.75 N/4 mm. 6. The wafer of claim 1 , wherein the first side liner and the second side liner and the third middle liner are organized symmetrically over the adhesive surface. 7. The wafer of claim 1 , wherein the first side liner and the second side liner and the third middle liner are organized asymmetrically over the adhesive surface. 8. The wafer of claim 1 , wherein the liner system includes at least one siliconized release liner. 9. The wafer of claim 1 , wherein the adhesive layer comprises a polyalkyleneoxide polymer and an organosiloxane based cross-linked adhesive. 10. The wafer of claim 9 , wherein the polyalkyleneoxide polymer is polypropyleneoxide. 11. The wafer of claim 1 , wherein the adhesive layer comprises ethylene vinyl acetate. 12. The wafer of claim 1 , wherein the backing layer is one of a polymer film, a coating, a laminate, a textile, or a non-woven. 13. The wafer of claim 1 , further comprising: a collecting pouch attachable to the wafer. 14. The wafer of claim 1 , further comprising: a collecting pouch integrated with the wafer. 15. An ostomy appliance comprising: a collecting pouch attachable to a wafer, with the wafer comprising a backing layer, an adhesive layer applied to the backing layer and providing an adhesive surface, and a liner system disposed over an entirety of the adhesive surface; wherein the adhesive surface includes a middle portion and the liner system includes a first side liner placed on a first lateral side of the middle portion of the adhesive surface, a second side liner placed on a second lateral side of the middle portion of the adhesive surface, and a third middle liner having two folded edge portions and covering the middle portion of the adhesive surface; wherein the two folded edge portions of the third middle liner include a first folded edge portion placed over the first side liner and a second folded edge portion placed over the second side liner. 16. An ostomy appliance comprising: a collecting pouch attachable to a wafer, with the wafer comprising a backing layer, an adhesive layer applied to the backing layer and providing an adhesive surface, and a liner system disposed over an entirety of the adhesive surface; wherein the adhesive surface includes a middle portion and the liner system includes a first side liner placed on a first lateral side of the middle portion of the adhesive surface, a second side liner placed on a second lateral side of the middle portion of the adhesive surface, and a third middle liner placed on the middle portion of the adhesive surface; wherein the first side liner is folded and the second liner is folded to provide two folded side liners, the two folded side liners are arranged one on each side of the third middle liner; wherein the third middle liner has two folded edge portions. 17. The wafer of claim 4 , wherein the first side liner has a first section and a second section that are folded on a first folded edge and the second side liner has a first section and a second section that are folded on a second folded edge, and a first of the folded edge portions of the third middle liner is disposed over the first folded edge and a second of the folded edge portions of the third middle liner is disposed over the second folded edge. 18. The wafer of claim 16 , wherein the first side liner has a first section and a second section that are folded on a first folded edge and the second side liner has a first section and a second section that are folded on a second folded edge, and a first of the two folded edge portions of the third middle liner is disposed over the first folded edge and a second of the two folded edge portions of the third middle liner is disposed over the second folded edge.
