The invention claimed is: 1. A pair of self assembling complementary polypeptides (SACPs) that form tapes, ribbons, fibrils or fibres in a β-sheet tape-like substructure, when a first monomeric peptide is contacted or mixed with its complementary monomeric peptide and wherein the SACPs comprise P 11 -26/27 (SEQ ID NOs: 4 and 5). 2. The SACPs of claim 1 , further comprising a bioactive peptide or a therapeutically active molecule conjugated to the SACPs. 3. A composition, comprising: tapes, ribbons, fibrils or fibres, wherein each of the tapes, ribbons, fibrils or fibres has an antiparallel arrangement of SACPs in a β-sheet tape-like substructure, wherein the SACPs comprise P 11 -26/27 (SEQ ID NOs: 4 and 5). 4. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the composition comprises SACPs which form ribbons and/or fibrils immediately when a first monomeric peptide contacts a second complementary monomeric peptide. 5. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the SACPs further comprise a bioactive peptide or a therapeutically active molecule conjugated to the SACPs. 6. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the composition comprises fibrils, and wherein the fibrils are comprised in a network of fibrils interconnected at fibre-like junctions. 7. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the composition comprises a dental product. 8. The composition of claim 7 , wherein the dental product is a dental repair, dental treatment, or dental reconstruction product. 9. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the composition is in the form of a tissue engineering scaffold. 10. The composition according to claim 9 , wherein the scaffold is seeded with cells. 11. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the material comprises a tissue repair product. 12. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the material comprises a wound healing product. 13. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the material comprises a skin treatment. 14. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the composition comprises a hair care product. 15. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the composition is part of a bioresponsive and biocompatible surface. 16. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the composition is a template for nucleation and growth of inorganic materials. 17. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the composition comprises a continuous filament yarn, staple, floc, cord, or fabric. 18. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the composition comprises a bone reconstruction product.
