Official abstract text for this publication.
The present invention proposes a method for preventing, when two types of subframes (first subframe and second subframe) exist in a wireless communication system, a high version terminal from performing unnecessary operation for the second subframe. Through the present invention, the high version terminal skips unnecessary operation, resulting in reduction of unnecessary power consumption.

What is claimed is: 1. A method of operation of a terminal in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: receiving, at the terminal, system information including information associated with a sub-frame configuration of multimedia broadcast multicast service single frequency network (MBSFN) sub-frame; receiving, at the terminal, information on configuration of a transmission mode of the terminal, the transmission mode including one of a first transmission mode and a second transmission mode; identifying whether to detect a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) in a first sub-frame of the MBSFN sub-frame based on the transmission mode of the terminal; if the transmission mode of the terminal is the first transmission mode, detecting at the terminal the PDCCH in a first sub-frame of the MBSFN sub-frame and a second sub-frame of non-MBSFN sub-frame for the terminal; and if the transmission mode of the terminal is the second transmission mode, detecting at the terminal the PDCCH in the second sub-frame of the non-MBSFN sub-frame. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the information on configuration of the transmission mode is included in a radio resource control (RRC) message. 3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: if the PDCCH for the UE is detected in the first sub-frame of the MBSFN sub-frame, decoding, at the terminal, a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) in the first sub-frame of the MBSFN sub-frame. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the terminal supports receiving a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) via MBSFN sub-frame, if the transmission mode of the terminal is the first transmission mode. 5. A terminal for decoding a subframe in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising: a transceiver for transmitting and receiving signals; and a controller coupled to the transceiver, the controller being configured to control the terminal to: receive system information including information associated with a sub-frame configuration of multimedia broadcast multicast service single frequency network (MBSFN) sub-frame, receive information on configuration of a transmission mode of the terminal, the transmission mode including one of a first transmission mode and a second transmission mode, identify whether to detect a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) in a first sub-frame of the MBSFN sub-frame based on the transmission mode of the terminal, if the transmission mode of the terminal is the first transmission mode, detect the PDCCH in a first sub-frame of the MBSFN sub-frame and a second sub-frame of non-MBSFN sub-frame for the terminal, and if the transmission mode of the terminal is the second transmission mode, detect the PDCCH in the second sub-frame of the non-MBSFN sub-frame. 6. The terminal of claim 5 , wherein the information on configuration of the transmission mode is included in a radio resource control (RRC) message. 7. The terminal of claim 5 , wherein the controller is further configured to, if the PDCCH for the UE is detected in the first sub-frame of the MBSFN sub-frame, decode a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) in the first sub-frame of the MBSFN sub-frame. 8. The terminal of claim 5 , wherein the terminal supports receiving a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) via MBSFN sub-frame, if the transmission mode of the terminal is the first transmission mode.
