What is claimed is: 1. A vesicular stomatitis virus comprising an RNA molecule, wherein said RNA molecule comprises, in a 3′ to 5′ direction, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV N polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV P polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV M polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding an interferon (IFN) polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV G polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a Sodium Iodide Symporter (NIS) polypeptide, and a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV L polypeptide, wherein said positive sense transcript encoding said IFN polypeptide comprises CUAACAG followed by a sequence encoding said IFN polypeptide followed by UAUGAAAAAAA (RNA of SEQ ID NO:1), and wherein said positive sense transcript encoding said NIS polypeptide comprises CUAACAG followed by a sequence encoding said NIS polypeptide followed by UAUGAAAAAAA (RNA of SEQ ID NO:1). 2. The virus of claim 1 , wherein said IFN polypeptide is a human IFN beta polypeptide. 3. The virus of claim 1 , wherein said NIS polypeptide is a human NIS polypeptide. 4. The virus of claim 1 , wherein said virus expresses said IFN polypeptide when said virus infects a mammalian cell. 5. The virus of claim 1 , wherein said virus expresses said NIS polypeptide when said virus infects a mammalian cell. 6. A composition comprising a vesicular stomatitis virus comprising RNA molecule, wherein said RNA molecule comprises, in a 3′ to 5′ direction, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV N polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV P polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV M polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding an IFN polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV G polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a NIS polypeptide, and a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV L polypeptide, wherein said positive sense transcript encoding said IFN polypeptide comprises CUAACAG followed by a sequence encoding said IFN polypeptide followed by UAUGAAAAAAA (RNA of SEQ ID NO:1), and wherein said positive sense transcript encoding said NIS polypeptide comprises CUAACAG followed by a sequence encoding said NIS polypeptide followed by UAUGAAAAAAA (RNA of SEQ ID NO:1). 7. The composition of claim 6 , wherein said IFN polypeptide is a human IFN beta polypeptide. 8. The composition of claim 6 , wherein said NIS polypeptide is a human NIS polypeptide. 9. The composition of claim 6 , wherein said virus expresses said IFN polypeptide when said virus infects a mammalian cell. 10. The composition of claim 6 , wherein said virus expresses said NIS polypeptide when said virus infects a mammalian cell. 11. A nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleic acid strand comprising, in a 3′ to 5′ direction, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV N polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV P polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV M polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding an IFN polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV G polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a NIS polypeptide, and a nucleic acid sequence that is a template for a positive sense transcript encoding a VSV L polypeptide, wherein said positive sense transcript encoding said IFN polypeptide comprises CUAACAG followed by a sequence encoding said IFN polypeptide followed by UAUGAAAAAAA (RNA of SEQ ID NO:1), and wherein said positive sense transcript encoding said NIS polypeptide comprises CUAACAG followed by a sequence encoding said NIS polypeptide followed by UAUGAAAAAAA (RNA of SEQ ID NO:1). 12. The nucleic acid molecule of claim 11 , wherein said IFN polypeptide is a human IFN beta polypeptide. 13. The nucleic acid molecule of claim 11 , wherein said NIS polypeptide is a human NIS polypeptide.
