The invention claimed is: 1. A phosphorus compound represented by general formula (1): wherein R 1 and R 2 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group, a heteroaryl group, an aralkyl group, an alkoxy group, or a halogeno group, in which the alkenyl group, the aryl group, the heteroaryl group, the aralkyl group, and the alkoxy group are optionally substituted with at least one group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, a halogenoalkyl group, an aryl group, a heteroaryl group, an aralkyl group, an alkoxy group, and a halogeno group; R 3 represents an alkyl group, an aryl group, or an aralkyl group, in which the aryl group and the aralkyl group are optionally substituted with at least one group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, an aryl group, and an aralkyl group; R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , R 8 , R 9 , and R 10 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group, or an aralkyl group, in which the alkenyl group, the aryl group, and the aralkyl group are optionally substituted with at least one group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, an aryl group, and an aralkyl group; N represents a nitrogen atom; P represents a phosphorus atom; Y represents lone pair electrons, an oxo group, or a thioxo group; Z represents an oxy group or a thioxy group; R 1 and R 2 may be bonded to each other to form a P-containing ring, in which the ring is optionally substituted with at least one group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, a halogenoalkyl group, an aryl group, a heteroaryl group, an aralkyl group, an alkoxy group, and a halogeno group; and each of the pairs of R 4 and R 5 , R 5 and R 6 , R 7 and R 8 , R 8 and R 9 , and R 9 and R 10 may be bonded to each other to form an unsaturated hydrocarbon ring which is fused with the benzene ring or the pyrrole ring, in which the unsaturated hydrocarbon ring is optionally substituted with at least one group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, an aryl group, and an aralkyl group. 2. The phosphorus compound according to claim 1 , wherein R 1 and R 2 each independently represent an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group, a heteroaryl group which may have a substituent(s), or an aralkyl group, in which the alkenyl group, the aryl group, the heteroaryl group, and the aralkyl group are optionally substituted with at least one group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, a halogenoalkyl group, an aryl group, a heteroaryl group, an aralkyl group, an alkoxy group, and a halogeno group; and Y is lone pair electrons. 3. The phosphorus compound according to claim 1 , wherein Z is an oxy group. 4. A transition metal complex comprising: a transition metal; and the phosphorus compound according to claim 1 as a ligand. 5. The transition metal complex according to claim 4 , wherein the transition metal is selected from the group consisting of iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, silver, osmium, iridium, platinum, and gold. 6. The transition metal complex according to claim 5 , wherein the transition metal is palladium.
