A suture anchor including an outer anchor part and an inner anchor part. The outer anchor part includes a proximal end, a distal end, and an inner surface defining a center bore extending between the proximal end and the distal end. The center bore includes a tapered proximal portion. The inner anchor part includes a tapered outer surface defining a first pair of opposing apertures. Insertion of the inner anchor part into the tapered proximal portion of the outer anchor part enables a suture extending through the first pair of opposing apertures to be coupled to the suture anchor. A taper fit between the tapered proximal portion of the center bore of the outer anchor part and the tapered outer surface of the inner anchor part retains the inner anchor part within the outer anchor part.

What is claimed is: 1. A suture anchor comprising: an outer anchor part including a proximal end, a distal end, and an inner surface defining a center bore extending between the proximal end and the distal end, the center bore includes a tapered proximal portion, a distal portion, and an internal flange defined by the inner surface between the tapered proximal portion and the distal portion, wherein the tapered proximal portion tapers inward from the proximal end to the internal flange, and the distal portion is narrower than the tapered proximal portion; and an inner anchor part including a tapered outer surface defining a first pair of opposing apertures; wherein distal movement of the inner anchor part relative to the outer anchor part to insert the inner anchor part into the tapered proximal portion of the outer anchor part from the proximal end of the outer anchor part enables a suture extending through the first pair of opposing apertures to be coupled to the suture anchor, a taper fit between the tapered proximal portion of the center bore of the outer anchor part and the tapered outer surface of the inner anchor part retains the inner anchor part within the outer anchor part. 2. The suture anchor of claim 1 , wherein the distal portion of the center bore includes a locking member for coupling with an inserter. 3. The suture anchor of claim 2 , wherein the locking member includes threads. 4. The suture anchor of claim 1 , further comprising a second pair of opposing apertures laterally offset from the first pair of opposing apertures. 5. The suture anchor of claim 1 , wherein each aperture of the first pair of opposing apertures includes a first portion and a second portion, the second portion defines a slot that is more narrow than the first portion. 6. The suture anchor of claim 1 , wherein the outer anchor part includes a plurality of retention fins that are expanded to a deployed position by retention tabs extending from the tapered outer surface of the inner anchor part upon insertion of the inner anchor part into the outer anchor part. 7. The suture anchor of claim 1 , wherein upon insertion of the inner anchor part into the outer anchor part a distal surface of the inner anchor part abuts the internal flange between the tapered proximal portion and the distal portion of the center bore. 8. The suture anchor of claim 1 , wherein the tapered proximal portion of the center bore defines opposing slots configured to receive retention tabs of the inner anchor part. 9. A system, comprising: an insertion tool including an elongated rod having a first coupling member proximate to a distal end thereof; and a suture anchor for implantation in a bone hole, the suture anchor comprising: an outer anchor part including a proximal end, a distal end and an inner surface defining a first center bore configured to receive the elongated rod, the first center bore includes a tapered proximal portion, a distal portion, and an internal flange defined by the inner surface between the tapered proximal portion and the distal portion, wherein the tapered proximal portion tapers inward from the proximal end to the internal flange, and the distal portion is narrower than the tapered proximal portion, and the distal portion including a second coupling member configured to cooperate with the first coupling member of the insertion tool to couple the outer anchor part to the insertion tool; and an inner anchor part including a tapered outer surface, the inner anchor part defines both a first pair of opposing apertures and a second center bore configured to receive the elongated rod to support the inner anchor part on the elongated rod at the proximal end of the outer anchor part; wherein the insertion tool is configured to distally move the inner anchor part relative to the outer anchor part to insert the inner anchor part within the outer anchor part from the proximal end of the outer anchor part such that the tapered outer surface of the inner anchor part contacts the tapered proximal portion of the outer anchor part to form a taper lock therebetween, and enable a suture extending through the first pair of opposing apertures to be coupled to the suture anchor by trapping the suture between the outer and inner anchor parts. 10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the first coupling member and the second coupling member include threads. 11. The system of claim 9 , wherein upon insertion of the inner anchor part within the outer anchor part, rigid retention tabs of the inner anchor part pass through slots defined within the outer anchor part to contact flexible retention fins of the outer anchor part to force the retention fins to a deployed position. 12. The system of claim 9 , wherein upon insertion of the inner anchor part within the outer anchor part, the suture is moved from a first portion of each of the first pair of opposing apertures to a second portion that is smaller than the first portion to compress the suture in the second portion and retain the suture in cooperation with the suture anchor. 13. The system of claim 9 , wherein the inner anchor part defines a second pair of opposing apertures, the first pair of opposing apertures define a first suture passageway and the second pair of opposing apertures define a second suture passageway. 14. The system of claim 9 , wherein the elongated rod defines a pointed tip. 15. The system of claim 9 , wherein upon insertion of the inner anchor part into the outer anchor part a distal surface of the inner anchor part abuts the internal flange between the tapered proximal portion and the distal portion of the center bore.
