A lighting apparatus includes a substrate, a plurality of light-emitting dies disposed on the substrate and spaced apart from one another, a continuous structure disposed over the substrate and covering the light-emitting dies within, and a filler. The light-emitting dies each are covered with an individual phosphor coating and the filler is between the continuous structure and the phosphor coating for each of the light-emitting dies. The lighting apparatus has a substantially white appearance when the plurality of light-emitting dies is turned off.

What is claimed is: 1. A lighting apparatus, comprising: a substrate with a sidewall; a plurality of light-emitting dies disposed on the substrate and spaced apart from one another, the light-emitting dies each being covered with an individual phosphor coating; a continuous structure disposed over the substrate and covering the light-emitting dies without covering the sidewall; and a filler between the continuous structure and the phosphor coating for each of the light-emitting dies, and being devoid of phosphor; wherein the lighting apparatus has a substantially white appearance when the plurality of light-emitting dies is turned off. 2. The lighting apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the filler comprises an adhesive material. 3. The lighting apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the adhesive material is transparent and is in direct contact with outer surfaces of individual phosphor coating for each light-emitting die. 4. The lighting apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the adhesive material is a silicone-based material. 5. The lighting apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the adhesive material comprises diffuser particles. 6. The lighting apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the filler comprises air. 7. The lighting apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the light-emitting dies each include a light-emitting diode. 8. The lighting apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the light-emitting dies each are configured to emit blue light. 9. The lighting apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a substrate on which the plurality of light-emitting dies is disposed. 10. The lighting apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the substrate comprises a printed circuit board, a ceramic substrate, or a silicon substrate. 11. The light apparatus of claim 9 , further comprising a heat sink, wherein the substrate is located on the heat sink, the heat sink is thermally coupled to the LED dies through the substrate. 12. The lighting apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the individual phosphor coatings for the plurality of light-emitting dies are separated from one another.
