Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An azeotrope-like mixture consisting essentially of a binary azeotrope-like mixture consisting essentially of trans-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (trans-HFO-1233zd) and a second component selected from the group consisting of 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234yf) and trans-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (trans-HFO-1234ze), and combinations of these and various uses thereof.

The invention claimed is: 1. A binary azeotrope or azeotrope-like mixture consisting essentially of from 2.1 to 6.6 weight percent trans-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (trans-HFO-1233zd) and from 93.4 to 97.9 weight percent 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234yf). 2. The composition of claim 1 further comprising at least one additional component selected from lubricants, stabilizers, metal passivators, corrosion inhibitors, flammability suppressants, and combinations of these. 3. A heat transfer composition comprising a refrigerant consisting essentially of the composition of claim 1 . 4. The heat transfer composition of claim 3 having a global warming potential (GWP) of less than about 1000. 5. The heat transfer composition of claim 3 having a global warming potential (GWP) of less than about 500. 6. The heat transfer composition of claim 3 having a global warming potential (GWP) of less than about 150. 7. The heat transfer composition of claim 3 having a global warming potential (GWP) of less than about 75. 8. The heat transfer composition of claim 3 classified as being 2L according to ASHRAE standard 34 dated 2010. 9. A heat transfer method comprising transferring heat by causing a phase change in the composition of claim 1 . 10. The composition of claim 1 further comprising at least one additional component selected from co-blowing agent, co-solvent, active ingredient, a material to be sprayed, lubricants, stabilizers, metal passivators, corrosion inhibitors, flammability suppressants, solvents and combinations of these. 11. A solvent composition comprising the composition of claim 1 . 12. A cleaning method comprising applying the solvent composition of claim 11 to a material or object to be cleaned. 13. The cleaning method of claim 12 wherein said applying step comprises spraying. 14. The cleaning method of claim 12 comprising vapor degreasing. 15. A sprayable composition comprising the composition of claim 1 . 16. The sprayable composition of claim 15 in the form of an aerosol. 17. A blowing agent comprising the composition of claim 1 . 18. A closed cell foam comprising a polyurethane-, polyisocyanurate-, or phenolic-based cell wall and a cell gas disposed within at least a portion of the cell wall structure, wherein the cell gas comprises the blowing agent of claim 17 . 19. A polyol premix composition comprising the blowing agent of claim 17 . 20. A foamable composition comprising the blowing agent of claim 17 . 21. The composition of claim 1 wherein said binary azeotrope or azeotrope-like mixture is an azeotropic composition.
