The ring may be used to non-removably couple a fitment to the container and/or may be adapted irreversibly to change a characteristic of the ring that is visible from outside of the container to advise a user that the package has been opened.

A product that includes: a container including a neck having an interior passage; and a ring non-removably coupled to the container neck, wherein the ring is composed of a base material and an oxidizable coating carried by the base material, and wherein the base material is a metal, and the oxidizable coating includes a reactive material that reacts with at least one of the constituents of air so as to visibly change appearance of the material.…
