Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The present invention describes a system and method of managing digital content received from content providers and for facilitating access to the digital content to many subscribers. The method includes receiving from the content providers incoming feed files where each feed file contains information describing the content. The method determines if the feed files are approved by applying a template to the feed files and also receives request files from the subscribers where each request file contains search criteria. The method provides one or more answer files in response to the request files where each answer file identifies feed files that meet the search criteria of a corresponding request file. The answer files are used to access or permit access to digital content on the web. In addition, a graphical user interface is described to manage, edit, promote and delete the feed files provided to the system.

What is claimed is: 1. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising instructions which when executed by a processor cause the processor to generate a graphical user interface comprising: a display window that visibly presents in a display of a computing device and permits, via the computing device, editing of descriptive information comprised within a feed file, the descriptive information corresponding to an event and the event's streaming content, wherein the descriptive information is separated into at least two groups of descriptive information; a backpack window that stores, displays and facilitates user access to user-selected feed files, links to user-selected searches for the feed files that are stored in a global media database, and links to a type tag value indicating a level of the data among the at least two groups of descriptive information; a plurality of tabs located in the display window for selecting among the at least two groups of descriptive information, each tab of the plurality displaying one of the at least two groups of the feed file's descriptive information; and a save button located in the display window configured to store the feed file's descriptive information in the global media database. 2. The computer readable storage medium according to claim 1 , further comprising instructions that generate on the graphical interface a button configured to store a link to the event identified in the feed file and associated descriptive information in the backpack window. 3. The computer readable storage medium according to claim 1 , further comprising instructions that generate on the graphical interface a Hotlist window and a button configured to open the Hotlist window, the Hotlist window for adding the feed file to a specific location within the database. 4. The computer readable storage medium according to claim 3 , wherein the feed file is one of a plurality of feed files, the Hotlist window comprising: the type tag value being used upon displaying at least one of the plurality of feed files. 5. The computer readable storage medium according to claim 4 further comprising instructions such that the Hotlist window is sectioned off according to content in the feed files based on similar type tag values. 6. The computer readable storage medium according to claim 5 , wherein the sectioned Hotlist window visibly displays the content of the feed files. 7. The computer readable storage medium according to claim 5 further comprising instructions such that the sectioned Hotlist window is sectioned off into three data windows. 8. The computer readable storage medium according to claim 5 further comprising instructions such that the Hotlist window is sectioned off according to a category corresponding to the content of the feed file. 9. The computer readable storage medium according to claim 7 further comprising instructions such that the data windows comprise at least one pane allowing a user to manage an incoming feed file and the incoming feed file's descriptive information. 10. An apparatus comprising: a processor; and a non-transitory, processor-readable storage medium comprising processor-executable instructions for generating: a display window configured to visibly present in a display of a computing device and to permit, via the computing device, editing of descriptive information comprised within a feed file, the descriptive information corresponding to an event and the event's streaming content, wherein the descriptive information is separated into at least two groups of descriptive information; a backpack window that stores, displays and facilitates user access to user-selected feed files, links to user-selected searches for the feed files that are stored in a global media database, and links to a type tag value indicating a level of the data among the at least two groups of descriptive information; a plurality of tabs located in the display window for selecting among the at least two groups of descriptive information, each tab of the plurality displaying one of the at least two groups of the feed file's descriptive information; and a save button located in the display window configured to store the feed file's descriptive information in the global media database.
